A violent member of the Omaha, Nebraska area Crips Gang named Jerell Haynie aka “Bootie,” 35, was sentenced to seven years in prison for participating in a racketeering conspiracy involving acts of violence, including attempted murder and assaults, witness tampering, and drug distribution. 

He conspired to conduct and participate in the affairs of the Omaha-area chapter of the Crips, known as the “40th Avenue and 44th Avenue Crips,” through a pattern of racketeering activity, and as a long-standing gang member, engaged in cocaine trafficking and personally committed acts of violence for the gang in furtherance of the racketeering conspiracy.

When a historic Pacific Island style canoe with six passengers onboard went missing on one day trip from Piagailoe Atoll with minimal provisions, and not been heard off for six days, the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Rescue Coordination Center made a call to the 20th EBS and its commander, Capt. Sean Simpson.

 
The request: use The B-52 world-famous long-range capabilities to find the historic canoe anywhere within a 275 x 230 nautical mile radius southeast of Guam, and report back the coordinates. 
 
It took nearly three hours, but about 2:45 p.m., the crew observed a small wooden canoe with a white sail and six passengers on board.
 

“We spotted this vessel from about 19,000 feet,” said 1st Lt. Jordan Allen, 20th EBS crew member. “It’s really a small miracle that we were able to see it because there was quite a bit of cloud.”

The B-52 crew members were able to give the Coast Guard the coordinates, who then contacted a nearby civilian ship to voluntarily assist in the recovery.

 
A nice 4th of July gift for the lost sailors and their families, and source of pride for the American people that their warriors are not only highly capable of defending our great country but also dedicated to saving lives of a crew of a nocturnal canoe lost in the vast expanses of the West Pacific.

The nocturnal Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is under a cloud of smoke, and the skies above the city had a ghastly golden glow from out-of-control fires spreading across California, as one blaze that ignited in western Yolo County spread over the weekend to neighbouring Napa County. 


The fast-marching fire has scorched at least 142-square kilometres of dry brush and threatened more than 100 buildings in ranch land northwest of Sacramento.

Waving postcards such as “Reunite families now, Stop abusing children”, “Abolish ICE,” and “Down With Trump”, dozens of people protested at the entrance of the Metropolitan Detention Center against the federal immigration policy of separating families detained illegally crossing the U.S. border. 

Police began arresting people for unlawful assembly around 11 a.m. local time, 

rounding up seventeen protesters outside the ICE building downtown Los Angeles, and there was no clash between the demonstrators and policemen.

More than 50 people, including a reputed gang member, are facing criminal charges as part of a joint federal and state investigation into heroin and fentanyl sales in the city’s West Side.

This investigation, dubbed “Operation Fat Chance,” centred on drug sales on the city’s West Side and resulted in seizing more than three kilograms of heroin, more than a kilogram of cocaine, and more than 230 grams of fentanyl.

Authorities also seized eight illegal firearms, including a semi-automatic assault rifle with a drum-barrel magazine, and more than $100,000 in narcotics proceeds.

As part of this investigation, law enforcement shut down two open-air drug markets in the city’s North Lawndale and East Garfield Park neighbourhoods.

The probe was conducted under the umbrella of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), a partnership between federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, whose principal mission is to identify, disrupt and dismantle the most serious drug trafficking organizations.

Criminal complaints and affidavits filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago charge 15 defendants with various drug offences.

Two of the federal targets were arrested on Tuesday and several more were arrested Thursday.

Forty-two other defendants were charged in state complaints, and many of them were also arrested Thursday.

The defendants have begun making initial appearances in Cook County Criminal Court.

Demetrius Nathaniel Pitts, aka Abdur Raheem Rafeeq, aka Salah ad-Deen Osama Waleed, 48, of Maple Heights, Ohio, was charged with one count of attempting to provide material support to al Qaeda, a designated foreign terrorist organization. Pitts was arrested Sunday by members of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. 


“Terrorists reject the ideals this nation was founded upon—the ideals we celebrate on July Fourth and which our law enforcement officers lay down their lives for every day,” said Attorney General Sessions. “Each one of us owes a debt of gratitude to the agents, analysts, and prosecutors who work day and night to identify those who would do this nation harm, including those committed to supporting violence in the name of foreign terrorist organizations. At the Department of Justice, we will continue to take every lawful step we can to disrupt terrorist plots and to protect our nation from foreign and domestic threats, including the dangerous threat posed by radical Islamic terrorism.”

“Together with our law enforcement partners on FBI Cleveland’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, the FBI disrupted plans to attack innocent citizens – including on July 4th, a day our citizens should be able to celebrate our freedom without fear of violence,” said Director Wray. “This arrest shows the determination of the men and women of the FBI and our partner agencies to protect our communities from harm.
