| A bronze coin minted during the reign of Egypt’s Pharaon Ptolemy IV, who ruled the country between 221 and 204BC, was found more than two millennia later in 1912 Australia, buried a few inches underground in the depths of the far north Queensland rainforest by a man named Andrew Henderson, who had abandoned the gold mining fields of Victoria for a warmer climate.
“Henderson got a block of land in the scrub and he became a settler,” far north Queensland historian, Dave Phoenix said. “One day in 1912 he was building a fence line and as he was digging a hole for a fence post his shovel hit something metallic. “He reached into the hole and pulled out this coin.” Henderson paid little attention to the coin at the time; when he returned home, he put it in a drawer and all but forgot about it for the next 40 years.

| UN report on the persistence of extreme poverty in the US concludes that is a political choice made by people in power, and also criticizes the government policy for making healthcare a privilege rather than a right. Poverty in the United States is widespread and worsening under President Donald Trump, according to a human rights investigator for the United Nations.
Philip Alston, the UN special investigator on extreme poverty, said the Trump administration appears determined to pull the social safety net out from under millions of poor people while rewarding the wealthy with tax cuts. In his report, Alston called on the US to address the underlying problems facing the underclass rather than “punishing and imprisoning the poor.”

| He noted that welfare benefits are being slashed and access to health care has become more difficult during Trump’s presidency. This, in conjunction with “financial windfalls” for the super-rich and big corporations, has significantly widened the inequality gap.
Since President Lyndon Johnson’s war on poverty in the 1960s US social policy towards the poor has been “neglectful at best,” Alston said. “But the policies pursued over the past year seem deliberately designed to remove basic protections from the poorest, punish those who are not in employment and make even basic health care into a privilege to be earned rather than a right of citizenship,” he said. In a country of about 325 million people, nearly 41 million live in poverty — including 18.5 million in extreme poverty. Alston said children accounted for 33 percent of the poor. No other industrialized country had so many children mired in poverty, he said. The data used to compile the UN report only covers the period through 2016, so there are no comparative figures that could measure poverty levels before and after Trump took office in January. |

| Vicente Adolfo Solano, 53, a citizen of Honduras residing in Miami, was sentenced to 210 months in prison, to be followed by a lifetime of supervised release, for attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization, after planning to detonate an explosive device at a Miami mall. Solano pleaded guilty on March 14.

| Solano told an individual, who later became a Confidential Human Source (CHS) for the government, that he was upset with the United States and wanted to conduct an attack in Miami. Later, Solano told this CHS that he wanted to join ISIS.
Solano planned to place and detonate an explosive device in a crowded area of a popular Miami mall. Solano discussed his plot with the CHS and two undercover FBI employees. According to the complaint, Solano provided three videos to the CHS, in which Solano makes pro-ISIS statements and expresses anti-U.S. sentiments. Just prior to his arrest, Solano took possession of what he believed was an explosive device, took steps to arm it, and walked toward a mall entrance in order to carry out his attack. Unbeknownst to Solano, the device was inert and did not pose a risk to the public. Solano was taken into custody prior to entering the Mall.

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga.(AFNS) After spending 18 years in the solitary world of a Buddhist monk, Airman 1st Class Kornkawee Rue Art, 23rd Medical Support Squadron pharmacy technician, traded his orange robes for a blue uniform, in his continual pursuit of a life bigger than himself; one of meaning and purpose. Born and raised on a farm in the countryside of Thailand, all along dreaming of joining the Air Force, along with successfully following over 200 rules as a monk, Rue Art developed a foundation that would carry his dedication to the honor, respect, and duty he would bring to the Air Force.
“This was something I felt I could do if I prepared myself,” he said. “I wanted to challenge myself and always keep growing.” “Even when I was young I wanted to join the military,” Rue Art said. “Being a monk, though, it closed my dream. I just wanted a chance, because talking with my friend it reminded me of how I used to dream about joining the military.”
Since joining the Air Force, Rue Art expressed that having to see people who aren’t always positive has put a test to his faith; but that it’s actually given him a stronger conviction in his beliefs.
“You learn how to deal with conflict (as a monk), but you never experience it,” Rue Art said. “Being at the pharmacy, I saw the realness of it all. So, when something would make me feel mad or upset, I would wonder how I’m going refresh myself every day and be ready to go to work tomorrow. But with my Buddhist beliefs, I was actually able to put it into practice and see how it really does work.”

Hence Mr.Xi has created a dialect contradiction, forcing neighboring countries to gang up on him, as nuclear-armed India and Indonesia have joined Australia in pushing back by signing an agreement for closer military ties, and while it was not mentioned specifically in the official communique, concerns over China’s military expansion in the South China Sea are clearly at the heart of the deal.
Australia has welcomed the agreement, suggesting it will work closely with India and Indonesia to ensure international law is maintained in the region.
“I hope the partnership will contribute to stability, peace, and prosperity,” he said.

After analyzing of the startling images sent back by Nasa’s New Horizons mission, which flew close to Pluto in July 2015, planetary scientists say they have found evidence of dunes of frozen methane on Pluto.
Following a decade-long trek through the Solar System, the “New Horizons” sped by at a speed of 36,373 mph, gathering data as it passed, helping the researchers explain how they studied pictures of a plain known as Sputnik Planitia, parts of which are covered with what looks like fields of dunes.
They are lying close to a range of mountains of water ice 5km high. The scientists conclude that the dunes are 0.4-1km apart and that they are made up of particles of methane ice between 200-300 micrometers in diameter – roughly the size of grains of sand.

| Once owned by Catherine the Great of St. Petersburg, Russia. world’s largest freshwater pearl named “The Sleeping Lion” has been sold at public auction for the first time in more than 200 years.
An auction house in the Netherlands sold the 7-centimeter (about 2.7 inches) pearl for €320,000 ($374,000) on Thursday to a Japanese trader. It had been valued at between €340,000 to €540,000 by auction house Venduehuis.
It weighs about 120 grams (some 4.2 ounces) or in an imperial unit of measurement based on grains of barley and wheat — 2,373 grains or 578 carats.
The largest known freshwater pearl in the world, and one of the world’s three largest pearls of any kind, the Sleeping Lion is so named because of its irregular shape, and it was probably formed in the early 1700s in China, perhaps the Pearl River. In 1765 it was shipped by a Dutch merchant to Batavia (present day Jakarta) before being auctioned in Amsterdam thirteen years later and acquired by Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia.

“It’s a sad day for international trade,” said Mexico economy secretary Ildefonso Guajardo, describing the United States’ announcement of metal tariffs against its trade partners as “completely incomprehensible,” since his country actually buys more U.S. steel than it exports to that country.
Although the U.S. has said the tariffs are being applied for national security reasons, the economy secretary argued that steel and aluminum are integral supplies in highly integrated strategic sectors of the North American economy, such as the automotive, aerospace, electric and electronic industries.
As Mexico announced tariffs on U.S. goods in retaliation, the EU promised to do the same with European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker described the tariffs as “unjustified,” and said it would hit back with its own tariffs and take the issue to the World Trade Organization.
“This is protectionism, pure and simple,” he said.
The United Kingdom’s trade secretary said the tariffs were “patently absurd.”
