Charcoal from tropical forests has a terrible effect on the environment, and Nigeria is one of the world’s largest exporters, selling charcoal that ends up on German barbecue grills.
The area where most of charcoal wood is cut from is Nigeria’s Edumanom Forest Reserve, a 9,000-hectare tropical forest lies in the oil-rich Niger Delta, the home to country’s last chimpanzees. 

The pristine ecosystem is in danger due to the trees being cut down, with the burning process produces fumes that are harmful to the people and the environment, poisoning the groundwater and the surrounding soil. 

The question of this never ending irreversible destruction of natural resources is when the forces of nature through global warming will put a halt to our politicians madness?

In continuation of the “cult of personality” powershift within China’s elite, the 660,000-strong People’s Armed Police will be placed under the direct control of President Xi Jinping, who heads the Central Military Commission as armed forces chief and commander in chief come January 1, 2018, according to the official Xinhua news agency. 
The force is responsible for border defense, counterterrorism, fire-fighting and domestic order, including putting down protests.
Is Mr. Xi who supposedly has very good “chemistry” with President Trump, while his ships were satellite observed selling illegals oil to Comrade Un, afraid of a coup?

A federal court today unsealed charges against defendant named Pablo Duran Ramirez for participating in a labor-trafficking scheme that forced minors to work at egg farms in central Ohio. The principals in the case, led by Aroldo Castillo-Serrano, the lead smuggler and primary enforcer, were sentenced to various lengths of incarceration, ranging from 51 to 188 months in federal prison for their part in the criminal enterprise at Trillium Farms in Central Ohio for their reckless disregard of the workers being trafficked, in addition to the charges for forced labor and for conspiracy.

In a severe crack in the never ending wall of attacks on President Trump from the left, Vanity Fair is trying to defuse criticism of a video mocking Hillary Clinton and her presidential aspirations, saying it was an attempt at humour that “missed the mark”.

The publication was slammed for posting “sexist” video mocking Hillary Clinton, whose former adviser revenged by starting a trending hashtag #CancelVanityFair.
Video suggested she take up knitting and get a hobby so she doesn’t run for president again.

The video suggests Mrs Clinton take up knitting, volunteer work or any hobby that would keep her from running again for president.

LA Fashion District business Pacific Eurotex Corp. and its owners – Morad “Ben” Neman and Hersel Neman – pleaded guilty to federal charges in an indictment that accused them of using the business “Black Market Peso Exchange” schemes to launder narcotics proceeds for international drug cartels, an import-export textile business, money laundering and tax charges.

The defendants admitted in court documents that they failed to report to federal authorities the receipt of this bulk cash, and that they “structured” frequent deposits of the cash, in amounts less than $10,000, to avoid a bank reporting requirement that would have drawn the scrutiny of law enforcement. The Nemans also pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the United States by maintaining two sets of business records in order to conceal income for tax purposes.

A “Black Market Peso Exchange” scheme is designed to assist drug traffickers who have United States currency that they want to send to a foreign country, such as Mexico, and convert into pesos. As part of the scheme, a broker finds business owners in the foreign country who buy goods from U.S. companies and who need dollars to pay for those goods. The broker arranges for the illegally obtained dollars to be delivered to the United States-based vendors, such as Pacific Eurotex, and these illegally obtained dollars are used to pay for the goods purchased by the foreign customers. Once the goods are shipped to the foreign country and sold by the foreign business, the pesos are turned over to the broker, who then pays the drug trafficker in the local currency of the foreign country, thus completing the laundering of the illegally obtained dollars.

As reported previously on this blog, President Trump tax cut bill is affecting global monetary flows, in this case the Mexican peso that forced the Central bank The Bank of México (Banxico) auctioned off an unscheduled US $500 million in foreign exchange hedges, a measure designed to ease pressure on the peso. But it only provided brief respite before the currency slumped again to end the day at 20.15 pesos per dollar.

“With the objective of fostering better liquidity conditions, better price discovery and orderly operation [of the exchange market], the commission has decided to instruct the Bank of México to sell exchangeable currency hedges today [yesterday] for the value in national currency of US $500 million,” it said.

Australia is well known for the incredible variety of life on land and the sea, and now has added and incredible “feather on their hat” of remarkably rich fish fauna, when a seasoned a fisherman, Michelle Garsidecaught one of the most bizarre-looking fishes, which appeared to have “three legs.” She couldn’t help but share photos of her catch to a local group on Facebook seeking help to identify the species.

“Two systems, four batteries in total. The deal is completely done,” National Defense Minister of Turkey Nurettin Canikli confirmed the closure of a $2.5 billion deal with Russia to buy state of art missiles defense shield.

The S-400 is Russia’s most advanced long-range anti-aircraft missile system with a capacity of carrying three types of missiles capable of destroying targets including ballistic and cruise missiles.

The system can track and engage up to 300 targets at a time and has an altitude ceiling of 27 kilometers (17 miles).

A total of nine people were injured on Wednesday after an explosion hit a store in St. Petersburg, Russia. According to Russian news agency RIA Novosti, over 50 people were evacuated from the store in the Baltic port city.

It added that the reason for the explosion was unknown. Fire teams and ambulances were dispatched to the area.
