The US Secret Service has confirmed it has intercepted a suspicious envelope addressed to President Donald Trump after authorities at the Pentagon found two packages suspected of containing ricin.

Envelopes containing white powder sent to US Defense Secretary and Navy’s top officer indicated the presence of the pathogen ricin, a poison that is part of the waste produced when castor oil is refined.

A former boyfriend of Dr.Ford sent a sworn letter, in which he immediately went against the testimony earlier given by her to the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman and his committee, forcing Mr. Chuck Grassley to sent a letter her attorneys, requesting evidence, which he claimed they withheld, to substantiate her sexual assault claims against Brett Kavanaugh, which “put him on trial before the nation.”

He not only requested notes from Dr. Ford’s therapy sessions but also recordings of the lie detector test she took and her contact with news media, but further questioned her truthfulness, citing a written declaration by an ex-boyfriend of the Californian professor, which appeared to directly contradict her testimony made recently under oath on having never assisted anyone in preparation for a polygraph test.

Sen. Grassley wrote that Dr. Ford’s testimony at the hearing on Thursday “raises specific concerns about the reliability of her polygraph examination results.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents, working jointly with other federal, state and local law enforcement agents arrested 53 individuals Thursday for drug and illegal arms trafficking and money laundering. The arrests were part of an investigation dubbed Operation Green Mountain against members of a transnational drug trafficking organization with nexus in Mexico and Colombia operating from Las Dolores Ward in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. The indictments allege that since 2010, the organization purchased and sold wholesale quantities of heroin, cocaine and marijuana and that it used the United States Postal Service (USPS) to purchase and mail these drugs to and from various distributors in several states. USPS employees were aware of the shipments of controlled substances and would hold the packages for pick-up by co-conspirators or divert them to other members of the conspiracy. Members of the conspiracy included police officers who provided information regarding investigations of the conspirators, interfered in police investigations for the benefit of the conspirators and provided information to the conspirators on how to avoid police detection. The indictment alleges they used and leveraged their official positions as law enforcement officers in furtherance of the conspiracy. The charging document also alleges that the conspirators sold street quantity amounts of cocaine, crack and marijuana at drug points in Río Grande.

President Trump told reporters it is a “difficult” and “scary” time for young men in the US, as he reiterated his support for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who is battling sexual misconduct claims by several women.

A vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh has been delayed as the FBI investigates the claims, which he denies. Mr. Trump said he believed the Senate would approve the judge. His appointment would be expected to tilt America’s top court in favor of conservatives for years to come.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Tuesday, Mr. Trump said: “My whole life I’ve heard, ‘you’re innocent until proven guilty’, but now you’re guilty until proven innocent. That’s a very, very difficult standard. It’s a terrifying time for young men in America when you can be guilty of something that you may not be guilty of.”

The president said he was waiting to see what would come out of the FBI investigation into his top court pick, and he did not want to “interrupt” anything.

At a rally later in Southaven, Mississippi, Mr. Trump mocked last week’s Senate testimony by Prof Christine Blasey Ford, without mentioning her by name who said Judge Kavanaugh, 53, assaulted her when they were teenagers.

Mr. Trump then criticized those who he accused of manipulating the accusers for political reasons. “They want to destroy people,” he said. “These are evil people.” The crowd chanted: “We want Kavanaugh! We want Kavanaugh!”
