ATLANTA — An unlawfully present Salvadoran national, identified as Eulalio Alvarez-Lizama, 36, a known or suspected member of the transnational criminal street organization known as Mara Salvatrucha or “MS-13”, wanted by law enforcement authorities in El Salvador on gang participation charges, was arrested by officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Jan. 4.

Alvarez illegally entered the U.S. on an unknown date and was first encountered by ERO on Feb. 12, 2012, at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office in Charlotte after his arrest for operating a vehicle without a license. ICE officers served him with a notice to appear and placed him into removal proceedings before a federal immigration judge. In July 2019, ERO Atlanta received an INTERPOL Red Notice indicating that Alvarez was wanted in El Salvador for participation in gang activities.

President Trump issued a statement on through the White House press secretary’s office that called for “no violence” amid reports that demonstrations were being planned ahead of Inauguration Day:

“I urge that there must be no violence, no lawbreaking and no vandalism of any kind,” reads the statement.

“That is not what I stand for, and it is not what America stands for. I call on all Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers. Thank you.”

Rowdy demonstrations noted by him were highlighted earlier this week in an FBI memo that warned multiple armed protests were expected to take place across the US at all 50 state capitols, including the US Capitol. The memo stated that a “storming” was being planned at state, local and federal courthouses should Trump be removed from the Oval Office before Inauguration Day.

Additionally, federal authorities revealed that an “identified armed group” planned to travel to Washington, DC, on January 16 if congressional lawmakers proceeded with measures to invoke the 25th Amendment.

“A huge uprising will occur,” warned the agency, which also explained in the bulletin that “armed protests” could be organized through “at least” Inauguration Day.

Seven Charlotte, North Carolina tax return preparers pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the United States by preparing and filing false tax returns, according to Principal Deputy Assistant General Richard E. Zuckerman of the Justice Department’s Tax Division, U.S. Attorney R. Andrew Murray for the Western District of North Carolina, and Special Agent in Charge Matthew D. Line of the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI).

Joseph Octave and Vonyeda Carson pleaded guilty on Jan. 12, 2021, while Melissa Greene, Natisha Holloman, Kimberly Joline, Whitney Vargas-Medrano and Wendia Courtois pleaded guilty earlier in 2020. In addition to the conspiracy charge, Octave pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and assisting in the filing of false tax returns.

Authorities say that it could be the biggest darknet marketplace bust, a real darknet platform with half a million users, trading drugs, counterfeit money, stolen credit card data, anonymous SIM cards and malware, as the suspected operator was arrested in Islamic Merkeldom of Germany, and prosecutors in the cities of Koblenz and Oldenburg said that they had shut down what was “probably the largest illegal marketplace on the Darknet” code-named “DarkMarket” and arrested the man believed to operate it near Germany’s border with Denmark.

The detained man, determined to be “DarkMarket’s” operator, is a 34-year-old Australian national.

US agencies like the FBI, DEA narcotics law enforcement division and IRS tax authority all contributed to the investigation, along with police from Australia, Britain, Denmark, Switzerland, Ukraine and Moldova, with Europol playing a “coordinating role.”

“A total of at least 320,000 transactions were carried out via the marketplace, with more than 4,650 Bitcoin and 12,800 Monero – two of the most common cryptocurrencies – changing hands,” Oldenburg authorities added.

At the time of its closure, “DarkMarket” had more than 2,400 vendors.

German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that a quake was registered at a depth of about 6 miles, following the September 2019, Indonesia’s deadly earthquake that left at least 20 people dead, with the latest one occurring on Wednesday (GMT+7) being a 5.7-magnitude earthquake that had hit the province of Irian Jaya, and  there have not been any reports about victims or damages caused by the quake so far.

Indonesia is frequently hit by earthquakes due to the region’s seismic activity. In September 2019, a 6.5-magnitude earthquake shook the country’s province of Maluku, causing heavy casualties.
