I think Speaker Pelosi is having 2nd thoughts about impeaching the President. The Senate should get back to work on USMCA & bills on surprise medical billing & lowering the cost of prescription drugs, while Pelosi is trying to figure how to get out of this mess she has created.

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) lodged an immigration detainer against an unlawfully present Mexican man identified as Carlos Bartolo-Rios, who was arrested December 19 by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, after executing a state criminal warrant at Bartolo-Rios’s North Charleston residence for first degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Bartolo-Rios is currently being held by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office while awaiting trial for the state criminal charges he faces. ICE has lodged an immigration detainer against him, and will seek to take him into immigration custody for removal proceedings at whatever point he may be released from criminal custody for the crimes he faces in South Carolina.
“This case is an excellent example of ICE’s ongoing focus to prioritize its immigration enforcement efforts toward unlawfully present foreign nationals who pose a clear threat to public safety,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Atlanta Acting Field Office Director John Tsoukaris.

“Despite attempts by some to confuse the public, ICE does not conduct any type of random or indiscriminate enforcement and the agency’s targeted enforcement efforts make communities safer for all persons whatever their immigration status may be.”

A march drawing tens of thousands of anti-government protesters in Hong Kong on New Year’s Day exploded into scenes of mayhem, as police fired several rounds of tear gas, and unleashed a water cannon at crowds including families before halting the event.

Mostly peaceful protests turned violent after some protesters smashed ATMs, with people focusing their anger at global banking group HSBC, as human chains formed down roads to help ferry supplies to people on the front lines.

The violence broke out during the largely peaceful march as masses of citizens pressed authorities for further concessions in the Chinese-ruled city.

President Trump  threatened Iran, blaming it for an attack on the US embassy in Iraq, after the compound in Baghdad was attacked by demonstrators furious over the deaths of militia members in US air strikes.

Mr. Trump tweeted that Iran “will pay a very big price” for any damage or loss of life.

“This is not a warning, it is a threat,” he said.

But Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei responded by saying the US “can’t do a damn thing”.

“Anti-American sentiment was widespread in Iraq”, he added.
