1…………> Breaking: London Hotel Fire

A fire has broken out at Mandarin Oriental Hotel at William Street in Knightsbridge, with the huge area has been cordoned off by the police and vehicle traffic between Sloane Street and Hyde Park Corner has been stopped in both directions.

Dozens of firefighters rushed to tackle a blaze that broke out at a hotel building near central Hyde Park in London Wednesday afternoon.

“Around 100 firefighters are tackling a large fire at a hotel of 12 floors in Knightsbridge,” London Fire Brigade said shortly after the fire started.

A later tweet from the brigade said: “We have now got 20 fire engines and around 120 firefighters (at the scene).”

Almost a year ago, a huge fire in Grenfell Tower Block in West London killed 71 people.

2…………> “Miracle Girl”: Guatemala

Video of police officers carrying a baby girl who was buried under ash and debris after Guatemala volcano Fuego erupted has kindled a small sign of hope, as the death toll rises and authorities warn the Fuego volcano is showing signs of greater activity and fears spread that anyone still stuck in the buried houses was dead and would remain entombed there.

The death toll from the weekend’s devastating eruption climbed to 75 with nearly 200 people remained missing, as “The Volcan de Fuego”, one of several active volcanos in Guatemala had the most severe lava and gas explosion in four decades.
A spokesman for Guatemala’s disaster agency, CONRED, said once it reached 72 hours after the eruption, there would be little chance of finding anyone alive.

3…………> Defending Melania: President Trump

In a pair of tweets on Wednesday, Mr. Trump railed against ongoing media speculation about Mrs. Trump’s whereabouts.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

The Fake News Media has been so unfair, and vicious, to my wife and our great First Lady, Melania. During her recovery from surgery, they reported everything from near death, to a facelift, to left the W.H. (and me) for N.Y. or Virginia, to abuse. All Fake, she is doing really well!

…Four reporters spotted Melania in the White House last week walking merrily along to a meeting. They never reported the sighting because it would hurt the sick narrative that she was living in a different part of the world, was really ill, or whatever. Fake News is really bad!

He later said “four reporters” had spotted Mrs. Trump at the White House last week “walking merrily along to a meeting”, but they did not report the “sighting because it would hurt the sick narrative that she was living in a different part of the world, was really ill, or whatever”.

4…………> Trump, Comrade Un Meeting: Sentosa Island

The White House confirmed that President Trump and the top leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Comrade Un will meet at the Capella Hotel on Singapore’s Sentosa Island, after a short delay last week.“The venue for the Singapore summit between @POTUS and Leader Kim Jong Un will be the Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island,” White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders tweeted.

“We thank our great Singaporean hosts for their hospitality,” she added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump said that his planned meeting with Kim will “hopefully be the start of something big.”

The White House said Monday that the meeting is tentatively scheduled for 9:00 a.m. (0100 GMT) on June 12 in Singapore.

After recent twists and turns, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last week met with Kim Yong Chol, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK’s ruling Workers’ Party of Korea, in New York.

On Friday, Trump too talked with Kim Yong Chol who delivered a personal letter from Kim Jong Un in a meeting that lasted almost two hours.

Subsequently, Trump said he would meet with the top DPRK leader on June 12 in Singapore as originally scheduled.

5…………> Our Trashy World: Plastic Pollution

Once scenic coastlines filled with bottles, animals choking on bits of plastic, people picking through the material on vast rubbish dumps: Our convoluted, convenience-based affair with plastic is taking a huge environmental toll because it is lightweight, durable and cheap. The world produced 8.3 billion metric tons of the material since mass production began in the 1950s, and since it is not biodegraded, much of what we’ve made now lives in landfills in many town’s outskirts. Rubbish pickers there hunt for recyclable plastics to earn a living.

1…………> “I Need A Hug”: Baby Chimp

An orphaned baby chimpanzee named Mussa that was rescued from poachers in Africa has taken a scenic flight to its new home — sitting on the pilot’s lap, and even “helped” adjust the plane’s throttle during the flight, rescue organisation Lwiro Primates in the Democratic Republic of Congo said.

“People ask me why I didn’t put Mussa in a cage during the flight,” pilot Anthony Caere posted on his Instagram page.

“A baby needs hugs and compassion instead of being locked up in a cage during a stressful flight.”

2…………> Hamburger Flippers: The End

3…………> More Boots, More Guns: China DOD

The Chinese leadership said the defence budget will increase to 1.11 trillion yuan (€142 billion, $175 billion), an 8.1% increase in defence spending in 2018, marking a sharp increase in the military budget compared to the previous two years, according to Prime Minister Li Keqiang.

China will “advance all aspects of military training and war preparedness, and firmly and resolvedly safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests,” said Li during the NPC.

“Faced with profound changes in the national security environment,” the Communist Party must continue to provide absolute leadership to the military, he added.

4………..> Applied Global Warming: Reduce CO2 Footprint

“After 14 years of saying to myself, ‘I do my part because I’m a climate scientist,’ I decided it was time to do more. I got the news at a research site in the remote Pacific Ocean where we were studying a reef that had just been killed by global warming. It was a shock, and I think had a much deeper resonance of despair and doom for those of us working in the climate science and policy world. For me personally, it was the start of a profound two-month depression. We have to talk about climate protection solutions. It’s not enough to just complain,” said Kim Cobb, a researcher at Georgia Tech University in the United States,  as she took concrete steps to reduce her greenhouse gas footprint, and reflect on the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States.

As millions of other concerned inhabitants of our celestial paradise who are painfully aware of global warming’s damage to the planet, she has responded to recent political developments and changes in climate policy by trying to cut her own carbon footprint.

“[We] need inspiration, leadership, and a sense of collective action. And scientists can play a key role in building that momentum.”

5…………> “Oscar” The Communist: Down To 19%

“The Tinseltown elite genuinely hates the people they expect will pay to see their movies and watch their TV shows. Why do we support them?” that is the reaction of Media Research Center’s Dan Gainor about the “divisive, left-wing politics Oscars” charade by the well dressed, good looking Hollywood punks led by “Trash Commander in Chief” Jimmy Kimmel, a cultural disgrace whose ratings collapsed down to 19%, compared to 22.4% last year.
