The Martian rover drilled out two cores from Martian rocks in the Jezero Crater for further analysis, as NASA is holding a press conference dedicated to the samples collected by its Perseverance Rover on Mars. The first one was taken four days ago and the second one on 8th of September. Perseverance is set to collect a dozen more samples on the Red Planet before returning home to Earth for analysis – which is expected to happen about ten years from now.

China’s Y-20 heavy transport aircraft has made its debut at the “Peace Mission 2021,” a counter-terrorism military exercise for Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states.
The Y-20 aircraft arrived in Russia’s Orenburg on Friday for the exercise, which will be held from Sept. 11 to 25.
The participants are from eight SCO member states, including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan.
Since its deployment in the PLA air force, Y-20 heavy transport aircraft have participated in multiple missions including the transportation of medical personnel and supplies to COVID-19-hit areas in the country and other humanitarian relief tasks.

 Nevada casinos won $1.36 billion in July, surpassing May’s record of $1.23 billion.
The figures released this week by the Nevada Gaming Control Board show strong growth for casinos statewide, but particularly for Las Vegas Strip casinos, which won 58% of the state’s total — $798.6 million. July’s gaming win includes the first full month of Resorts World’s operation on the Strip.

A military  transporter plane that was carrying more than 90 people, mostly troops, overshot the runway on Jolo island in the southern Philippines killing at least 45 people, with dozens more pulled alive from the burning wreckage.

HONOLULU – A Big Island man, identified as Jonathan Tai, 36, of Kurtistown who was arrested at his home late this week, following the execution of a search warrant at that location, appeared in U.S. District Court Monday to face methamphetamine and firearm charges, following an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Hawaiʻi County Police, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

“Mr. Tai is a clear danger to our community,” said John F. Tobon, Special Agent in Charge for HSI Honolulu.

“I’m proud of the diligent work by our agents and the cooperation of our federal, state, and local partners to bring these charges.”
