    A 23-year-old illegal alien from China, named Xiangyu Zhang, residing in La Marque, Texas, a man who threatened to shoot school children while he was in an internet chat session in July 2018, was sentenced to 61 months in federal prison on March 14, receiving 37 months for the firearms conviction, and a mandatory consecutive 24 months for identity theft, after Zhang pleading guilty to both charges. 

    Zhang first came to the attention of law enforcement in July 2018 when – during an internet chat session on the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Crisis Line – he threatened to use firearms to kill school children.

     Within hours of stealing her purse, Zhang attempted to purchase several high-end items online from Apple using the woman’s identity without her permission.

    Following Zhang’s arrest, law enforcement found a passport belonging to a woman who lived in the Dallas, Texas, area.

     Zhang had stolen the woman’s purse containing the passport in August 2017 after he served as her Uber driver.

    New Zealand police arrested three men and a woman in the aftermath of the attacks, and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed one of those taken into custody was an Australian-born citizen, after New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush said one man in his late 20s had been charged with murder, two other people remained in custody and the other, who was armed at the scene may not have had anything to do with the attack.

    An Australian named Brenton Tarrant is among those who have been arrested after 49 people were killed and dozens more were injured in terrorist shooting attacks at two Christchurch mosques, following one gunman with a semi-automatic weapon mowing down worshippers gathered for Friday prayers in mosque at Deans Avenue in central Christchurch and another mosque in the nearby suburb of Linwood.

    The ABC has identified Grafton man Brenton Tarrant as the man visible in live-streamed footage of the attack.

Boeing recommends entire global fleet of 737 MAX aircraft be grounded, following the recent tragedy of an airplane crash in Ethiopia that killed 149 passengers and eight crew members on board, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 has been banned from operating.

“On behalf of the entire Boeing team, we extend our deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives in these two tragic accidents,” Boeing chief executive officer Dennis Muilenburg said.

“We are doing everything we can to understand the cause of the accidents in partnership with the investigators, deploy safety enhancements and help ensure this does not happen again,” he said.

Boeing still has full confidence in the 737 MAX, but made the recommendation to suspend operations of the model’s entire global fleet, after the Boeing CEO has apologized for the plane crashes in Ethiopia and Indonesia, and the Federal Aviation Administration releasing a full list of the operators who use the 737 MAX.

 President Donald Trump’s declaration of an emergency on the US-Mexico border looks likely to be dealt a blow by dissident Republican senators, as the measure to terminate the emergency declaration is expected to pass the Republican-controlled Senate after seven GOP Establishment members said they would support it, joining their Unified Party USA friends in the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives last month backed the measure.

Mr. Trump said he would “probably” have to veto the measure, saying that, “Pure and simple, it’s a vote for border security”, calling Democrats “border deniers” and said any Republican opposing him would be casting “a vote for Nancy Pelosi.”

GOP senators are Mitt Romney and Mike Lee of Utah, Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Rand Paul of Kentucky.

The remark provoked an outcry and anger voiced by his EU fellow officials who speculated that the president of the European Parliament is a fascist sympathiser.

    Last week the Deputy Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum, Cristelle Pratt, criticized the Trump Administration’s 2017 National Security Strategy, which says the US will work with Australia and New Zealand to “shore up fragile partner states” in the Pacific and “reduce their vulnerability to economic fluctuations and natural disasters.”

    Pacific nations have welcomed the intensifying US engagement in the region, but they have also warned they do not want to be drawn into a broader strategic battle between China and other powers like America, Australia and France.
