On 5 March 1946, wartime leader, national British hero, and the recently ousted British Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s made a speech that would echo in eternity, while speaking at Westminster College, Fulton, Missouri, he read what he entitled the “Sinews of Peace,” or as it has become known more commonly – the “Iron Curtain Speech”:

“An iron curtain has descended across the Continent. Behind that line lie all the capitals of the ancient states of Central and Eastern Europe. “This is an active threat,” that is how White House press secretary Jen Psaki expressed US growing concern over a hack on Microsoft’s Exchange email software that the tech company has blamed on China.

“Everyone running these servers – government, private sector, academia – needs to act now to patch them.”

Microsoft said hackers had used its mail server to attack their targets, since reportedly tens of thousands of US organizations may be impacted, and the US has long accused the Chinese government of cyber-espionage, something Beijing denies.

Ms Psaki told reporters that the White House was “concerned that there are a large number of victims” and said the vulnerabilities found in Microsoft’s servers “could have far reaching impacts”.

On Saturday, the US National Security Council said it was “essential that any organization with a vulnerable server take immediate measures” to determine if they had been targeted.

“We have obtained intelligence that shows a possible plot to breach the Capitol by an identified militia group on Thursday, March 4,” Capitol police statement said.

“We are taking the intelligence seriously,” the agency added, as no other information about the possible threat was provided, with rumors’ of the suspected plot follow last week’s announcement  that law enforcement was reviewing intelligence suggesting that a militia group was seeking to “blow up” the Capitol complex while President Joe Biden was inside addressing a joint session of Congress.

 Acting Capitol Police chief  Yogananda Pittman told lawmakers at a hearing that threats received by members of Congress have increased over 93 percent in the first two months of 2021 compared to the same period last year.

4…………> Large Health Care Fraud Ring: Busted

A medical director, operator and two unlicensed practitioners, identified as Farrah Forough Farizani, D.O., 57, Hamid Reza Razavi, 60, Elie Hanna Hajjar, 48, and Juan Acuña, 64, all of Houston and from the same Texas medical clinic, made their appearances before U.S. Magistrate Judge Christina Bryan, and are now in custody on charges related to their alleged participation in a $32 million health care fraud scheme.

The indictment, unsealed today, charges all four with one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud. Farizani, Razavi and Hajjar are also charged with five counts of making false statements relating to health care matters.

The Islamic Merkeldom of Germany’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) have placed the Alternative for Germany (AfD) under surveillance, the designation giving state agents more powers for surveillance in certain circumstances, including potentially tapping the party’s communications, with the BfV refusing to comment on media reports, and Interior Ministry, which oversees the BfV, said it would neither confirm nor deny them.

Meanwhile, Volker Ullrich — interior affairs spokesman for the CSU, the conservative Bavarian sister party to Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats — appeared to suggest the new surveillance status was a fait accompli.

In a tweet, he described it as a “consistent and correct decision.”

“The concept of a defensible democracy means naming and fighting the opponents of the free democratic basic order,” said Ullrich.

The Department of Justice announced it has awarded more than $295.8 million to improve public safety, serve victims of crime and support youth programs in American Indian and Alaska Native communities:

“American Indian and Alaska Native communities experience rates of violent crime and domestic abuse that are among the highest in the nation,” said Attorney General William P. Barr.

“The awards announced today underscore the Department of Justice’s deep commitment to improving public safety in tribal communities throughout the United States. This administration will continue to work closely with our tribal partners to guarantee that they have the resources they need to combat violence and bring criminals to justice.”

More than $103 million was awarded under the Justice Department’s Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation (CTAS) to enhance law enforcement and tribal justice practices, expand victim services and sustain crime prevention and intervention efforts. CTAS grants are administered by the department’s Office of Justice Programs ($41.5 million), Office on Violence Against Women ($39.1 million) and Office of Community Oriented Policing Services ($22.5 million).
