Thirty-seven Cambodian nationals, most convicted criminals, were repatriated to Cambodia, Tuesday, in accordance with their final removal orders following immigration court proceedings, with their criminal convictions included three counts of murder, two counts of rape, two counts of aggravated assault, five counts of aggravated assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, sexual assault,  three counts of attempted murder, burglary, child abuse, lewd act on a minor, driving under the influence, larceny, stolen property, two counts of firearm possession, two weapon offenses, traffic offence, forgery, three counts of robbery, resisting arrest, auto theft, and seven drug convictions.

“ERO carries out its mission to remove aliens who present a danger to national security or are a risk to public safety, as well as those who undermine the integrity of our immigration laws with the utmost professionalism daily, and often in the face of adversity,” said Acting Assistant Director for Removals, Jeffrey Lynch.

“This most recent removal flight took 35 criminals, many convicted of the most heinous possible crimes, off our streets and made our communities safer.”

ICE-ERO officers assisted the US Marshal Service (USMS) lead fugitive task force and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office in yesterday’s arrest of Rodolfo Navarro-Salgado, who surrendered after a brief stand-off with law enforcement officers at his residence in Sun Valley, and was taken into custody without incident

“This arrest reflects ICE’s ongoing commitment to partner with local, state and federal law enforcement to protect our communities from public safety threats,” said ICE Deputy Field Office Director Dana Fishburn, ICE ERO, Las Vegas, Nevada

“It’s because of the professionalism of ICE law enforcement officers working operations aimed at arresting criminal aliens, that real progress is being made in protecting our communities from the threat posed by criminal aliens.

Navarro-Salgado, an alleged gang member with a violent criminal history, was wanted by the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Division of Parole and Probation, for parole violations.

Marshal Gary Schofield stated, “This is yet another example of how our joint agency efforts are apprehending violent fugitives who think they can hide in the Washoe County community.

A US Department of Justice (DoJ) official said Wednesday that the department is still looking for ways to include the long-debated citizenship question in the upcoming 2020 census questionnaire, despite a ban by the US Supreme Court, according to The Hill.

“We at the Department of Justice have been instructed to examine whether there is a path forward, consistent with the Supreme Court’s decision, that would allow us to include the citizenship question on the census,” said Joseph Hunt, an assistant attorney general with the DoJ’s civil division. “We think there may be a legally-available path under the Supreme Court’s decision. We’re examining that, looking at near-term options to see whether that’s viable and possible.”

Hunt suggested that the DoJ prepare a motion in the Supreme Court for comments and a detailed explanation on its ruling as a means of determining how the process could be pushed forward.

“It’s very fluid at present because we are still examining the Supreme Court’s decision to see if that option is still available to us,” Hunt suggested.

On 8 May, Iran announced that it was partially discontinuing its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plane of Action (JCPOA). The decision came exactly a year after the United States fully withdrew from the nuclear agreement and reimposed wide-ranging sanctions on Iran. Tehran also gave the other nuclear deal signatories — China, the European Union, France, Germany, Russia, and the United Kingdom — an ultimatum, giving them 60 days to shield Tehran from Washington’s sanctions or else risk it further reducing its commitments. These 60 days end 7 July.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Monday that Tehran had exceeded the 300 kilograms (660 pounds) enriched uranium stockpile limit set out by the 2015 deal, a fact that was confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
