We are getting great marks for the handling of the CoronaVirus pandemic, especially the very early BAN of people from China, the infectious source, entering the USA. Compare that to the Obama/Sleepy Joe disaster known as H1N1 Swine Flu. Poor marks, bad polls – didn’t have a clue!

2…………> US Unemployment Set to Hit +20%: Economic Prediction

.

The US Labor Department revealed on Friday that the United States lost a historic 20.5 million jobs in April against the background of the coronavirus pandemic. The US unemployment rate will hit a low in May-June amid the ongoing pandemic and is expected to be north of 20%, US economic adviser Kevin Hassett said in an interview with CBS. On Friday, US unemployment data for April showed that the nation had set a new record and jumped to 14.7% from 4.4% reported in March, while the number of jobs in non-agricultural sectors of the economy fell by a record 20.5 million.Separately, the Labour Department said on Thursday that it received 33 million filings for first-time unemployment benefits by Americans over the past seven weeks, indicating more job losses to come.

3………….> COVID-19 War: World 2nd Wave Of Infections

.

As restrictions have eased across the globe, new cases have appeared in China, South Korea and Iran, threatening hard-won gains in their fight against the virus, and the Islamic Merkeldom of Germany’s transmission rate has climbed above 1 again, with city of Wuhan, where the first outbreak occurred, has seen its first case in over a month, as a grouping of new cases have been linked to Seoul’s nightlife districts.

In the state of New York an investigation is underway after some 85 children contracted an inflammatory illness that may be linked COVID-19, the symptoms of which are similar to Kawasaki disease and toxic shock syndrome.

“Though the illness is rare, we ask parents to be vigilant,” state governor Andrew Cuomo tweeted.

Meanwhile, all nursing homes in the state will be required to test staff twice a week for COVID-19, Cuomo said in his daily briefing. The measure is in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus in its most fertile breeding ground.

Cuomo also announced regulations to protect nursing home patients, including insisting that hospitals cannot discharge coronavirus patients, and send them to a nursing home, until the person has tested negative.

Why should the people and taxpayers of America be bailing out poorly run states (like Illinois, as example) and cities, in all cases Democrat run and managed, when most of the other states are not looking for bailout help? I am open to discussing anything, but just asking?

Blame the Democrats for any “lateness” in your Enhanced Unemployment Insurance. I wanted the money to be paid directly, they insisted it be paid by states for distribution. I told them this would happen, especially with many states which have old computers.

2…………> COVID-19 Mortal Blow: Airbus Failing, Is Boeing Next?

.

The chief executive of Airbus has issued a chilling assessment of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the plane maker, when in a letter to workers, Guillaume Faury warned the company was ” bleeding cash at an unprecedented speed” having cut aircraft production by a third, on the catastrophic collapse of the aviation industry, that is expected to shrink significantly in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Mr. Faury also warned Airbus’ 135,000 staff to brace for potentially deep job cuts, saying that the very survival is at stake without immediate action.

Airbus is this week due to deliver financial results for the first quarter of the year. Those figures will be overshadowed by the pandemic that has left global airlines struggling to survive and almost completely halted plane deliveries since lockdowns started in March.

3…………>  COVID-19 March Is ON: When Will Americans Get Full-Face Masks?

.

More than 55,000 people have died of COVID-19 in the United States, with a total of million cases been reported,  as the state of New York was hit hardest, with 282,460 cases and 20,982 deaths, followed by New Jersey’s 5,426 fatalities, Michigan’s 2,977 deaths and Massachusetts 2,360 deaths, and despite the grim statistics, and lack of masks for the general population, debates are raging over reopening the country’s economy severely battered by the virus.

Several states are moving toward restarting their economies after the federal government issued new guidelines to reopen the country in phases, but many others remain hesitant to take such steps without more robust testing capacity.

Georgia moved ahead on Friday with plans to allow some nonessential businesses such as gyms, barber shops, hair salons, tattoo parlors and bowling alleys to reopen with strict social-distancing and hygiene requirements.

4…………>  Glamorous Sam Neil: The Cheering-Up Business During COVID-19 Times

.

Monumental and beloved actor Sam Neil, amateur winemaker,”duck dad” and occasional ukulele player, keeping his spirits high in times of COVID-19 isolation by driving his 1960 Austin A40 small vintage car along the wide, lazy Clutha River, over the bridge into the town of Clyde with its historic stone buildings, surrounded by the great snow-capped Southern Alps of New Zealand’s South Island rise up around the town, parks his in front of his favorite cafe, greeting other locals, then settles in with his coffee and newspaper.

Here in the wine country of Central Otago he is just another farmer, another winemaker worried about early frosts, part of the landscape and of an agricultural community:

“I feel like I am part of the soil,I love the whole process and the changing of the seasons”, he says, despite that he been accused of being a dilettante actor making wine as a hobby, something that irritates him, because in fact his family company Neill & Co have been wine and alcohol merchants in New Zealand since the 1860s. He was hit by the “wine making bug” himself, and after planting his first pinot grapes in the early 90s, what started as a “delightful diversion” became a”crazy obsession”.(BBC)

5………..>  US “1929” Great Depression 2.0 Ahead:  Economic and Job Collapse

United States Department of Labor reported that the US now has 26.5 million people who have filed for initial unemployment claims since mid-March after losing their jobs amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, putting an end to over 100 months of record job growth.

The US is predicted as heading for an unemployment rate comparable to the levels registered during the Great Depression of 1929 – 1939, as it struggles to deal with the fallout from the novel coronavirus pandemic:

Around 2008, we lost 8.7 million jobs and the whole thing. Right now, we’re losing that many jobs about every 10 days, said Kevin Hassett, President Trump’s economic adviser.

The adviser recalled that during the Great Depression, unemployment rate peaked at about 25 per cent, while during the Great Recession of 2007- 2009 it took roughly 10 months for new unemployment claims to spiral as high as they currently have in under a month.

2…………> IMF Chair: Gloomy Economic Forecasts Too Optimistic?

.

International Monetary Fund (IMF) managing director Dr. Kristalina Georgieva is describing the daunting task of coordinating economic policy across the globe, facing an invisible enemy that behaves in unknown ways  to deliberately  undermine the very way economies work, a tricky challenge fire fighting service battling multiple infernos, almost everywhere.

Only three months ago, the IMF’s January economic forecast update projected that the base unit of living standards – the per person size of the economy or GP per capita – would be going up in 160 countries. That would have meant 82% of nations becoming better off in 2020, but they have changed their tune:

“We are projecting 170 countries to see income per capita shrinking during 2020, I want to stress this may be actually a more optimistic picture than reality produces. Epidemiologists are now helping us making macroeconomic projections. Never in the history of the IMF have we had that. And what they’re telling us is that the novel coronavirus is a big unknown, and we don’t know whether it may return in 2021. It is the time that governments should spend as much as they can afford and more, but keep the receipts. We don’t want to lose accountability and transparency during this crisis”, she said.

3…………>  ‘Hold China Accountable’  For COVID-19 Outbreak: US

..

US officials and the intelligence community apparently have ruled out the possibility of the COVID-19 pathogen being man-made, but now the chase by intelligence analysts is to create an accurate picture of what happened during the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak.

United States authorities’ interest in allegations of the origins of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic lying in a virology laboratory in China’s Wuhan has now turned into a “full scale investigation”, using open source and classified data to focus on the work conducted in the lab by a certain Dr. Shi Zhengli, which was related to antivirals and immunizations for coronavirus, specifically with bats.

4…………>   Uncle Don’s “Deplorable” Supporters To ‘Liberate’ States: Governor’s Cries For Help

.

Many Americans in regions that have not seen major outbreaks have urged governors to reopen their states, gathering outside state government buildings across the country, as members of both parties have called for federal assistance with testing, so businesses can reopen.

A day after rolling down a road map to gradually reopen the crushed US economy, Mr. Trump fired a salvo of tweets with the kind of rhetoric some of his supporters have used in demanding the lifting of the orders that have thrown millions of Americans out of work:

“Liberate Minnesota! Liberate Michigan! Liberate Virginia, and save your great 2nd Amendment. It is under siege!” he said, The shutdowns have inflicted heavy damage on economies around the world.

In the US, the crisis has cost at least 22 million Americans their jobs, pushing the unemployment rate toward levels not seen since the Great Depression.

Super Tuesday may very well decide the Democratic nominee in the 2020 US presidential election, as more primaries are held than on any other day. Two big Super Tuesday states are California and Texas, where candidates are courting the Latino vote.
