According to court documents, Abdirizak Jaji Raghe Wehelie, aka Haji Raghe, 66, of St Burk, was a federal contractor for the FBI and worked as a linguist translating communications captured by court-authorized surveillance of a suspect (Person A) in a terrorism investigation.

Wehelie is scheduled to make his initial appearance in federal court in Alexandria, and is charged and arrested for making false statements to government officials and obstruction of a federal investigation.

Following a three-and-a-half day trial, Said Azzam Mohamad Rahim, a 42-year-old United States citizen, was convicted of one count of conspiracy to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization (FTO), one count of attempting to provide material support to an FTO, and six counts of making false statements involving international terrorism to federal authorities.

Asked by agents if he had ever supported ISIS, advocated travel for the purposes of jihad, promoted violence on ISIS’s behalf, or encouraged anyone to kill infidels at the urging of ISIS spokesman Abu Mohammed Al Adnani, Mr. Rahim said,“Kill and do not consult anyone.”

Rahim now faces up to 20 years in federal prison for each material support count and eight years for each false statement count, for a total of up to 88 years imprisonment.

The US Department of Justice has released the second redacted version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russia’s alleged meddling in the 2016 US presidential election, with the new version of the report published as a response to separate lawsuits by BuzzFeed and by the Electronic Privacy and Information Center (EPIC), in which they have accused the US Department of Justice of violating the Freedom of Information Act.

Since 2017, Mueller has been carrying out his investigation into suspected collusion between Russian officials and US President Donald Trump’s associates, as well as into Russia’s alleged meddling in the 2016 US presidential election

Some pieces of information were withheld since they could “disclose techniques and procedures for law enforcement investigations or prosecutions,” while some others were withheld over national security concerns

A Salvadoran fugitive and 18th Street Gang associate, who is wanted for aggravated homicide in his home country, was arrested in Sioux Falls Wednesday by deportation officers with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO)

After his initial encounter with US border officials, he was released from custody and ordered to report to the ICE office in Sioux Falls on a periodic basis beginning in November 2018, pending his immigration court proceedings

Most of the individuals sought are members of the 18th Street Gang (Surenos 18); others such as Ruiz-Mejia are listed in Spanish as “paros” or individuals who do favors for the gang

Following a nearly two-year international investigation involving US law enforcement and authorities in the Islamic Merkeldom of Germany and the Netherlands, federal prosecutors have charged three German nationals with being the administrators of Wall Street Market (WSM), which was one of the world’s largest dark web marketplaces that allowed vendors to sell a wide variety of contraband, including an array of illegal narcotics, counterfeit goods and malicious computer hacking software.

The affidavit also describes an international investigation that was able to identify the three administrators of WSM, show how they previously operated another German-based darknet marketplace that shut down in 2016, and link them to computer servers in Germany and the Netherlands that were used to operate WSM and process virtual currency transactions.

A criminal complaint filed Wednesday in US District Court in Los Angeles alleges that the three defendants, who currently are in custody in Germany, were the administrators of WSM, a sophisticated online marketplace available in six languages that allowed approximately 5,400 vendors to sell illegal goods to more than one million customers around the world.

One darknet vendor who advertised on WSM is currently serving a 12-year federal prison sentence after being convicted in the Western District of Wisconsin for distributing a fentanyl analogue resulting in the overdose death of a Florida resident who ordered a nasal spray laced with the powerful opioid from the vendor.

Andrew Scherr, 50, of Livingston, New Jersey, and Robert McGraw, 41, of Long Island City, New York, who were both executives with Southport Lane, LP (Southport), a New York private equity investment holding company specializing in managing investment portfolios for insurance companies, were each charged in an indictment filed in the Northern District of Texas with one count of conspiracy to commit crimes by or affecting persons engaged in the business of insurance, one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud affecting a financial institution and five counts of wire fraud affecting a financial institution.

The indictment alleges that Scherr, McGraw and their co-conspirators defrauded insurance companies by causing them to exchange cash and other liquid, valuable assets for illiquid and fraudulently overvalued securities created by the defendants and their co-conspirators.

“According to the indictment unsealed today, Scherr and McGraw diverted hundreds of millions of dollars from insurance companies’ investment portfolios, leaving several companies unable to pay their policyholder claims,” said Assistant Attorney General Benczkowski.

Scherr, McGraw and their co-conspirators allegedly used Southport and affiliated entities to create fraudulently overvalued securities and replace assets held by victim insurance companies with these fraudulently overvalued and illiquid securities.
