Officers from ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New York arrested six during a three-day period, from August 27-29th, in the New York City metropolitan are, including a Guatemalan national and former military official who served at the site of military sweeps and massacres during his period of military service.

A Chinese national who was an active participant in China’s coercive family planning policy was also arrested.

ICE arrested 39 fugitives – 30 males and nine females – sought for their roles in known or suspected human rights violations during a nationwide operation that took place from Aug. 27 to 29, with the foreign nationals arrested during this operation all have outstanding removal orders and are subject to repatriation to their countries of origin. Of the 39 known or suspected human rights violators arrested during Operation No Safe Haven V, 16 individuals are also criminal aliens in the U.S. with convictions for crimes including, but not limited to, domestic violence, driving under the influence of liquor, drug distribution, firearm possession, grand theft, reckless endangerment, robbery, fraud and theft.

Their countries of origin include: El Salvador, Guatemala, China, Liberia, Cambodia, Chad, Chile, Colombia, the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Sierra Leone, and Sudan

 This operation more than doubled the number of known or suspected human rights violators arrested during the first nationwide No Safe Haven operation, which took place in September 2014.

A Houston-area man who posed as a physician at an unregistered pain clinic was found guilty today for his role at a “pill mill” at which he and his co-conspirators illegally prescribed hundreds of thousands of doses of opioids and other controlled substances, and after a five-day day jury trial, Muhammad Arif, 61, of Katy, Texas, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to unlawfully distribute and dispense controlled substances and three counts of unlawfully distributing and dispensing controlled substances. 

 The evidence showed that Arif was not licensed to practice medicine in the United States, but posed as a physician at Aster Medical Clinic, saw patients as if he were a physician and wrote prescriptions for patients on prescription pads that had been pre-signed by the doctor, Arif’s co-conspirator.

 The combination of hydrocodone and carisoprodol is a dangerous drug cocktail with no known medical benefit.

Hurricane Dorian is expected to bring “life-threatening storm surges” up the US east coast after causing destruction and at least 20 deaths in the Bahamas, when it hit the islands with winds of up to 185mph – equalling the highest ever recorded at landfall.

It currently has maximum sustained winds of 110mph (175km/h), down from 115mph earlier in the day.

 It battered the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama, in the north of the archipelago, for two days

Residents from Georgia to Virginia are being told to listen to official advice.
