A Colorado man, identified as Alvaro Castillo, 64, of Englewood, was sentenced today to 60 years in prison for production, transportation, and possession of child pornography, after of being convicted by a federal jury of three counts of production of child pornography; one count of attempted production of child pornography; one count of transportation of child pornography; and one count of possession of child pornography on Nov. 18, 2020.
“Alvaro Castillo recorded himself committing unspeakable crimes against a defenseless child in a foreign country,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Nicholas L. McQuaid of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.
“The department is committed to identifying and prosecuting transnational offenders like Alvaro Castillo, and today’s sentence will protect children in Guatemala and the United States from such predatory behavior.”

EL PASO — A noncitizen, identified as Felix-Eduardo Gomez-Hernandez, 32, actually a Mexican citizen, convicted of an aggravated drug felony, was removed to Mexico on Thursday by officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) at the Stanton Street Bridge in downtown El Paso. Gomez-Hernandez was considered a threat to public safety and an ICE enforcement priority due to an aggravated felony conviction for manufacturing and delivering methamphetamine.
On Feb. 10, 2008, Gomez-Hernandez was legally admitted into the United States at the Ysleta Port of Entry in El Paso as a non-immigrant visitor. However, he failed to comply with the conditions of the non-immigrant status under which he entered the United States.

Ransomware is used to scramble computer networks and steal information, as attackers target companies or organizations and can lock their systems, then demand large sums of money in return for ending the hack, hence the Washington DC’s police department said in a statement that it was “aware of unauthorized access on our server”:
“While we determine the full impact and continue to review activity, we have engaged the FBI to fully investigate this matter,” the statement added, without providing further details of the reported breach.
