President Trump apparently discussed the idea of forming a third political party, being disappointed with Rhino Republicans who did not back his claims of election fraud, but now he has stated of not planning to form his own political party, saying  that he “has made clear his goal is to win back the House and Senate for Republicans in 2022”:

“There’s nothing that’s actively being planned regarding an effort outside of that, but it’s completely up to Republican Senators if this is something that becomes more serious,” his office said.
Media reports on social media claimed, citing people familiar with his thinking, that Trump was “talked out” of his alleged plans, and was persuaded by his aides that diverting efforts both to a third party and primaries “makes no sense”.

The Israeli Diaspora Affairs Ministry says that anti-Semitic attacks are likely to surge globally in 2021 amid the coronavirus pandemic, and hence the uptick in hate crimes could be tied to the spread of conspiracy theories claiming Jews were “responsible” for the COVID-19 outbreak, and will likely continue even after the coronavirus pandemic is over, all this in an annual report of the ministry that said that “the rising rates of anti-Semitic sentiment are expected to lead to a significant increase in violence against Jews and Jewish sites in 2021. This is expected to challenge communities around the world, especially the American Jewish community.”

Diaspora Affairs Minister Omer Yankelevich provided an explanation for it, saying that “Throughout history, the Jewish people have served as an easy scapegoat for the world’s illnesses. Anti-Semitic sentiment has unfortunately been on display during the current pandemic.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s officials are shaken by the extent of Saturday’s nationwide protests in support of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, according to report from a close friend:

“They really are afraid,” said Vladimir Ashurkov, director of the non-profit Anti-Corruption Foundation, referring to the large police turnout and the arrest of more than 3,000 people.

Asked why so many people had been ready to risk arrest on Saturday, he said: first, it was Moscow’s “unlawful” arrest of Navalny last weekend on return from a five-month recuperation in Germany where he received treatment for a near-fatal poisoning in Siberia last August.

On his inauguration day, US new President “Uncle” Joe, “Sleeping in a wrong century” Biden first stop was a Catholic Mass, and during his inauguration ceremony, it was a Jesuit priest who invoked God’s blessing, in his first address as president the 78-year-old led prayers for the more than 400,000 coronavirus dead in the US, and then the cameras followed him to his desk in the White House, among the many photos that could be seen on the window sill in the background was one of Biden with Pope Francis.

The new president of the United States of America is a Catholic — only the second Catholic to be elected to America’s highest office after John F. Kennedy in 1960, but now a significant change in the US has seen the Catholic Church becoming the country’s single largest community of faith:

“When Joe Biden was born and baptized, the Catholic Church was still located very much on the fringe of the American mainstream. But between the 1940s and 1960s, it moved rapidly into that mainstream,” church historian Massimo Faggioli told Deutsche Welle.

“Biden is a traditional Catholic, but not a traditionalist. His faith was deeply influenced both by the papacy of John XXIII (1958-1963) and the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965).”
