Khaleel Ahmed, 37, a native of India, was convicted pursuant to a guilty plea in 2009 of providing material support to terrorists through his efforts to travel abroad in order to murder or maim U.S. military forces in Iraq or Afghanistan, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2339A. As admitted in his criminal proceedings, between 2004 and 2007, Ahmed and his cousin, Zubair Ahmed, made preparations to travel abroad, and did, in fact, travel to Cairo, Egypt, with the intent of engaging in acts that would result in the murder or maiming of U.S. military forces. Upon returning from Cairo, the cousins discussed, sought, and received instruction on the use of firearms, including sniper rifles, and in counter-surveillance techniques. They also collected and distributed videos of attacks on U.S. military forces overseas, manuals on military tactics, and military manuals on weaponry. In 2009, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio accepted the cousins’ guilty pleas, and in 2010 sentenced Khaleel Ahmed to eight years and four months in prison and three years of supervised release.

Germany’s second-largest film festival is exploding with great movies, starting with “Happy as Lazzaro”, Lucrecia Martel’s movie ‘Zama’, and most importantly the TV series including a “Das Boot” sequel of Wolfgang Petersen movie drama about the life aboard a U-boat during the closing days of WW2.

Munich is a film festival that fills the vacuum left from the usual American blockbuster movies, as it relies on films from countries whose cinematic works are otherwise hard to find in everyday program life.

Here we go again with the gruesome fantasy of square-jawed, steel blue-eyed Russian GRU hitmen lurking in the UK for their next victims, as a man and woman are found unconscious in Wiltshire poisoned by Novichok, the same nerve agent that poisoned ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal, according to the latest police report.

The couple, identified as Charlie Rowley and Dawn Sturgess, is in a critical condition having been found unconscious at a house on Saturday.

Police say no one else has presented with the same symptoms.

There was “nothing in their background” to suggest the pair were targeted, the Met Police said.

There are two possible explanations for this outrage:

1. The government of President Putin has descended into an outright, old-fashioned thuggery intended to bring horror to the citizens of a nuclear-armed country, which is highly unlikely considering the long tradition of the Soviet secret police to hit its enemies stealthily and deadly, a practice introduced by its founding father Felix Edmundovitch Dzerginsky in the 1930’s murders of dissidents.

2. Or an even worst alternative, a terrorist or an Islamo-Fascist mule-head with access to nearby Porton Down biological and chemical warfare facility has laid his hands on the deadly pathogen, and it is using it to settle a score with Russia by trying to kill UK citizens and then blame it on Putin.

In any case, the person involved better be dressed in a tank embedded in a submarine, because when MI5 or FSB get their long fingers on him, he will need every bit of scripture money can buy.

Michael Hari, 47, Michael McWhorter, 29, and Joe Morris, 22, were charged with federal civil rights and hate crime violations, in connection with an explosion at the Dar al-Farooq Islamic Center (DAF) in Bloomington, Minnesota, on Aug. 5, 2017. McWhorter, Morris, and Hari were previously named in a criminal complaint filed on March 13, 2018, in the District of Minnesota, charging them with arson.

The three defendants are currently being held in custody in Urbana, Illinois, on separate charges.

“All people – regardless of where they worship – have the right under federal law to live free from the threat of violence and discrimination,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General John Gore. “This Justice Department will hold accountable under the law anyone who attempts to commit violent acts of hate by threat or action.”

“These three defendants allegedly plotted and executed a plan designed specifically to spread fear and threaten a fundamental right afforded to all, the freedom of religion,” said U.S. Attorney Erica H. MacDonald. “In spite of the destructive and violent act alleged in the indictment, our communities have found strength in taking a unified stand against the attack. My office and our law enforcement partners are committed to upholding the laws that protect the civil rights of all Americans.”

“Last year’s bombing was more than just an attack against a single structure, it was an attack on the very religious freedoms we enjoy as Americans,” said Jill Sanborn, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Minneapolis Division. “The ability to worship how and where we want is a cornerstone of our country’s foundation, and the FBI stands ready to work with the community and our law enforcement partners whenever those freedoms are attacked.”

The indictment returned by a federal grand jury alleges that Hari constructed a pipe bomb and rented a pickup truck in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Hari, McWhorter, and Morris drove from Illinois to Bloomington, Minnesota, in the pickup truck, stopping along the way to purchase diesel fuel and gasoline. The defendants mixed these ingredients together in a plastic container.

US first lady Melania Trump wore a jacket with the words, “I really don’t care, do u?”, written on its back as she boarded a flight to a facility housing migrant children separated from their parents.

Mr. Trump says he is meeting with top two Democrats to help push through an immigration bill, despite that Congress voted down the first of two bills 231-193 and GOP Republicans delayed the vote on a second, ‘compromise bill’, until Friday in a bid to gain support.

The green, hooded military jacket had the words written in graffiti-style on the back.

“It’s a jacket. There was no hidden message,” her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said when asked what message Mrs. Trump’s jacket intended to send.

“After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn’t going to choose to focus on her wardrobe.”

The European Union (EU) has introduced retaliatory tariffs on US goods as a top official launched a fresh attack on President Donald Trump’s trade policy.

The duties on €2.8bn (£2.4bn) worth of US goods came into force on Friday.

Tariffs have been imposed on products such as bourbon whiskey, motorcycles and orange juice.

European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker said duties imposed by the US on the EU go against “all logic and history”.

The Trump administration announced in March that it would introduce tariffs of 25% on steel and 10% on aluminum imported into the US.

According to a report from California Association of Realtors, the median home sale price in the Golden State reached 600,860 dollars in May, jumping up 2.8% from April and 9.2% from May 2017. The previous record was 594,530 dollars 11 years ago, during the real estate bubble prior to the 2008 economic crisis.

“As we predicted last month, California’s statewide median home price broke the previous pre-recession peak set in May 2007 and hit another high as tight supply conditions continued to pour fuel on the price appreciation fire,” CAR Senior Vice President and Chief Economist Leslie Appleton-Young said in a press release.

The median home price in California is more than twice the national median home price of 264,800 dollars, the report said.

The increase was largely driven by high costs in the Bay Area, where the median price sat above 1 million dollars for the second straight month, the report said, adding that in San Francisco, buyers paid an average of 18 percent above the asking price.

The price in Los Angeles County was slightly lower than the statewide number at 528,540 dollars, but the growth rate was in double digit.

A Tibetan prefecture in northwest China’s Qinghai Province, in Chindu County, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, located near the source of the Yangtze River scientists have discovered rock paintings by ancient Qiang people during a period from 1,000 B.C. to the late Tang Dynasty (618-907) have been found in neighboring areas. The paintings depict various activities, including hunting, herding, sexual intercourse, and sacrifices.

Wei Jian, deputy director of Chinese Society of Rock Painting, said that the frescoes were created over a wide time span with the oldest dating back 2,000 years, and one is depicting a human figure waving something like a flag with the left hand, and using the right hand in a gesture like a salute.

Karim Baratov, aka Kay, aka Karim Taloverov, aka Karim Akehmet Tokbergenov, 23, a Canadian national and resident, was sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to pay a fine, which encompasses all of his remaining assets.

In addition, Baratov and three other defendants, including two officers of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), Russia’s domestic law enforcement and intelligence service, were charged with a number of offenses relating to the hacking of webmail accounts at Yahoo and other service providers. In particular, the defendants were charged in a computer hacking conspiracy in which the two Russian FSB officers hired criminal hackers to collect information through computer intrusions in the United States and abroad, which resulted in the unauthorized access of Yahoo’s network and the spear phishing of webmail accounts at other service providers between January 2014 and December 2016.

“Criminal hackers and the countries that sponsor them make a grave mistake when they target American companies and citizens. We will identify them wherever they are and bring them to justice,” said Assistant Attorney General Demers. “I would like to thank Canadian law enforcement authorities for their tremendous assistance in bringing Baratov to justice. We will continue to work with our foreign partners to find and prosecute those who would violate our laws.”

Maalik Alim Jones, 33, of Baltimore, Maryland, was sentenced today to 35 years in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release, for conspiring to provide material support to al-Shabaab, a designated foreign terrorist organization based in Somalia, conspiring to receive military training from al-Shabaab, and carrying and using an AK-47 machine gun, rocket-propelled grenades, and other destructive devices in furtherance of his support for al-Shabaab. Jones pleaded guilty on Sept. 8, 2017, to a three-count Superseding Information.

“U.S. citizens who travel overseas to fight with a terrorist organization – which is what Jones did – betray our country and pose a serious threat to our national security,” said Assistant Attorney General Demers. “The National Security Division remains committed to committed to identifying and stopping terrorists like Jones, and we will hold them accountable. Credit goes to all those who worked so tirelessly to bring Jones to justice.”

“We may never know what drove Maalik Jones to travel to Somalia and pledge allegiance to al Shabaab, a terrorist organization that has vowed to destroy America,” said U.S. Attorney Berman. “But we do know that with today’s sentence, Jones is no longer a threat to America’s ideals.”

In the past few years, China has made investments in Africa’s economic projects worth nearly $7 billion dollars, part of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s “new socialism” plan to invest a total of 60 billion dollars in Africa by the end of 2018.

Chinese financial analyst Liu Ying did not rule out that at the end of the day, these countries will abandon the use of the US dollar, and that experts have pointed out that the Chinese yuan is already “widely used” in trade transactions in Africa in the fields of investment, financial markets as well as the gold and forex reserves of African countries.

“The construction of basic infrastructure in Africa, including railways and [economic] clusters, also stipulates the use of the yuan,” Liu pointed out, observing rising interest rates and a program to reduce the balance of the Federal Reserve System, “the outflow of the dollar is an inevitable situation.”

“Therefore, the choice of the yuan is a logical and timely measure for Africa. The yuan is a very stable currency capable of providing support and security in trade settlements, financial investments and the creation of reserves,” Liu emphasized.

“I believe that the yuan will be stabilized rather than strengthened. The most important thing is to maintain stability [of the national currency],” he underscored.
