Dedicated Putin critic Alexei Navalny, 44, was detained after flying back to Moscow from Germany, five months after he was nearly killed by a nerve agent attack, then led away by police at passport control at Sheremetyevo airport as thousands crowded a different Moscow airport to greet his flight from Berlin, not aware that the plane was diverted.
Mr. Navalny blames Russian authorities for the attempt on his life last year, and not surprisingly the Kremlin denied any role in the caper.
The opposition politician’s allegations have however been backed up by reports from investigative journalists.
US President-elect Joe Biden’s incoming national security adviser echoed the call:
“The Kremlin’s attacks on Mr. Navalny are not just a violation of human rights, but an affront to the Russian people who want their voices heard.”

“The impeachment power exists to protect the Nation from the harm that an incumbent president might inflict upon the Nation were he to remain in office, not to vindicate political grievances after a president has left office,” the Senator asserted.
Graham, a long time Trump supporter, said that proceeding with the impeachment in the Senate would be both unconstitutional and unwise.
“The Senate should vote to dismiss the article of impeachment once it is received in the Senate. We will be delaying indefinitely, if not forever, the healing of this great Nation if we do otherwise. Our obligation to the People we represent is clear. History will judge us harshly, as it should, if we do not rise to the occasion of this historic moment in our history,” Graham remarked.
