A federal grand jury indictment unsealed late Tuesday alleges a complex financial fraud scheme in which a Chinese company exported to the United States huge amounts of aluminum – disguised as “pallets” to avoid customs duties of up to 400 percent – and “sold” the purported pallets to related entities to fraudulently inflate the company’s revenues and deceive investors around the world.

The 53-page indictment alleges that China Zhongwang Holdings Limited, Asia’s largest aluminum extrusion company; Zhongtian Liu, the company’s former president and chairman; and several individual and corporate co-defendants lied to to U.S. Customs and Border Protection to avoid paying the United States $1.8 billion in anti-dumping and countervailing duties (AD/CVD) that were imposed in 2011 on certain types of extruded aluminum imported into the United States from China.

The aluminum was imported through the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and then stockpiled at four large warehouses in Southern California, all of which were purchased at Liu’s direction.

Horrifying video footage showing the moment a toddler fell six stories from an apartment building in China, and escaped unscathed, thanks to a group of quick-thinking residents.

The three-year-old boy was clinging to the edge of a condominium balcony in the south-western city of Chongqing in footage taken on Monday.

Japan’s Science Ministry approved a proposal by University of Tokyo researcher Dr. Hiromitsu Nakauchi to grow human stem cells in mouse, rat and pig embryos, and then transplant those cells into another animal.

In 2017, he effectively cured a diabetic mouse by growing a healthy mouse pancreas in a rat embryo before transplanting it into the sick mouse.

Mice, rats and pigs are not the best hosts for the development of human organs because of the “genetic distance” between their cells and human cells.

Dr. Nakauchi hopes that his experiments will help scientists cure the problem.(DW)

Jianhua “Jeff” Li, 44, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Kevin McNulty of the District of New Jersey, to one count of conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit goods and labels and smuggle goods into the United States and one count of trafficking in counterfeit goods. 

Li, working through his company Dream Digitals, conspired with Andreina Becerra, Roberto Volpe, Rosario LaMarca and others to smuggle and traffic into the United States from China more than 40,000 electronic devices and accessories, including iPads and iPhones, along with labels and packaging bearing counterfeit Apple trademarks.

  The devices were then shipped to conspirators all over the United Stat, thtProceeds were funneled back to conspirator accounts in Florida and New Jersey via structured cash deposits and then a portion was transferred to conspirators in Italy, further disguising the source of the funds.

The China-developed solar-powered unmanned aircraft “MOZI 2” completed a successful maiden flight, its producer OXAI Aircraft Co., Ltd., an ultra-light designed a wingspan of 45 feet, powered by solar cells, can fly at a maximum altitude of 24,000 feet.

It can cruise at a low speed for up to 12 hours during the night after charging in the sunlight for eight hours.

The aircraft is expected to be used for disaster relief, reconnaissance and communication.

FBI Phoenix Field Office announced that on July 26, two men, identified as  Mahad Mohamed and Abdi Yemani Hussein, were arrested for supporting a designated foreign terrorist organization.

 These communications revealed the defendants’ desire to travel overseas in order to fight on behalf of ISIS or to conduct an attack within the United States if they were unable to travel.

    According to the criminal complaint, the defendants had been in communication with an FBI undercover employee whom they believed was a supporter of ISIS ideology.

  Ultimately, the defendants purchased airline tickets to travel to Egypt, with the intention to travel on to Sinai and join ISIS.

  FBI agents arrested Mohamed and Hussein after they checked in for their flight at the Tucson International Airport in Arizona.
