A dual national citizen of the United States and Ireland identified as Eric Eoin Marques, 33, of Dublin, Ireland, pleaded guilty before U.S. pleaded guilty in federal court in Maryland to conspiracy to advertise child pornography before District Judge Theodore D. Chuang to conspiracy to advertise child pornography, after admitting that between July 24, 2008, and July 29, 2013, he conspired to advertise child pornography by operating an anonymous web hosting service (AHS).
Marques was extradited to the United States by Irish authorities on March 23, 2019. He was indicted in a four-count indictment alleging that he conspired to, and did advertise and distribute child pornography, between July 24, 2008 and July 29, 2013, by operating the AHS. Sentencing is scheduled for May 11.
“The defendant’s anonymous web service hosted dozens of insidious criminal communities dedicated to the sexual exploitation of children and spread millions of images of that abuse,” said Assistant Attorney General Mr.Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.
“His guilty plea is proof of the department’s fierce commitment to rooting out those who hide behind anonymous networks to commit serious child exploitation offenses.”
“Child pornography is created by documenting the sexual abuse of children,” said U.S. Attorney Mr.Robert K. Hur of the District of Maryland. “This is an egregious case where one individual facilitated the abuse of more than a million new child victims and attempted to keep the abuse hidden on the dark web. We must do everything we can to bring individuals like Marques to justice in order to keep our children safe.”

Hong Kong has begun a mandatory two-week quarantine for anyone arriving from mainland China, in a fresh effort to contain the new corona-virus, demanding that visitors must isolate themselves in hotel rooms or go to government-run centers, while returning Hong Kong residents must stay inside their homes, and anyone caught ignoring the new rules faces a fine and a prison sentence.
Thousands of travelers are stranded at the Chinese border city of Shenzhen, following reports that Hong Kong has seen 26 confirmed cases of the virus and one person has died. The number of confirmed cases in mainland China stands at 31,203, with 636 deaths.
Outside China, 270 cases have been confirmed in at least 25 countries, with one other fatality – in the Philippines.

Eleven more bases will be made available to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to quarantine more evacuees from China amid the novel corona-virus outbreak, by order of Defense Secretary Mark Esper, all near major airports for people coming from China “should HHS facilities become filled.”
The potential installations include the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii, the Great Lakes Training Center Navy Base in Illinois, the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth in Texas, the Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Georgia, Fort Hamilton in New York, the Naval Base Kitsap in Washington, the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, DC, the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey, the Fort Custer Training Center in Michigan and the March Air Reserve and Travis Air Force Bases in California.
“Under the request, DoD support at each location will be limited to providing housing support for up to 20 people as they undergo a period of quarantined observation,” the Pentagon recently said, referring to the installations already housing evacuees.
