The Armed Forces of Ukraine have strengthened air defence in the north of the country as part of joint drills with NATO, the press service of the Center air command said on 18 September.

The drills will take place in Ukraine from September 22-30 at all large military training grounds, as well as in the Black and Azov seas.

Police say they have detected “some threats of violence” ahead of a planned right-wing rally in Washington DC on Saturday.
Event organisers say it is aimed at supporting those arrested for taking part in the Capitol riots on 6 January.
Security has been tightened in Washington ahead of the rally, at which 700 people are expected.
The event’s coordinator, a former Donald Trump campaign operative, has vowed the event will be peaceful.

A panel advising the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recommended boosters of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine for people 65 and over, and those at high risk.
But it voted against recommending a shot for everyone aged 16 and over.
The outcome is a blow for President Joe Biden, who said widespread jabs would be available by next week if approved.
The FDA’s scientific advisory committee voted 16 to 3 against the boosters for those aged 16 and over.

Sirens, warning about approaching rocket attack, were activated on Friday night near Israeli border with the Gaza Strip, according to reports from Israeli Defense forces (IDF).
The alert was heard in the Avshalom, Shlomit and Yevul community border settlements.
Later, Israeli military also confirmed that “one launch was identified from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory, which was intercepted by country’s air force fighters,” according to a tweet.

Taiwan has been governed independently from mainland China since 1949. Beijing has urged the US to stop fuelling tensions in the region while interacting with Taiwan. On Friday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the Taiwan question is the most important and sensitive issue in China-US relations.
China’s People’s Liberation Army released a video on Friday in which a pilot can be heard warning US military aircraft as it conducted an overflight operation near Taiwan.
“This is the Chinese air force. You are approaching China’s territorial airspace. Leave immediately or you will be intercepted,” the Chinese air force pilot said.

The announcement was made by HSI Nashville Special Agent in Charge Jerry C. Templet, Jr, and the acting U.S. Attorney for the eastern district of Kentucky.
Yun Zheng, a.k.a. Wendy, 50, and Yan Qui Wu, a.k.a. Jason, 48, both of Alexandria, Kentucky, were charged with four counts of concealing, harboring, or shielding a person for commercial and private financial gain, and one count of conspiracy to conceal, harbor, or shield persons for commercial and private financial gain. The alleged offenses occurred between November 2014 and November 2017.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A former U.S. Navy pilot who admitted to coercing a minor to engage in illicit sexual conduct and to distributing, receiving and possessing child pornography, all while actively serving in the U.S. Navy and following his retirement from active service, was sentenced today to life in federal prison.
Lieutenant Commander Ronald W. Zenga, 45, of Middletown, Rhode Island, pleaded guilty on November 19, 2020, to coercion of a minor, distribution of child pornography, receipt of child pornography, and possession of child pornography. He was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Chief Judge John J. McConnell, Jr., to life in federal prison and lifetime federal supervised release and pay restitution to the victim in the amount of $500,000.
