Police near Boston, Massachusetts, have arrested nine people after an hours-long stand-off with an armed group.

A Saturday incident began early when an officer investigated two vehicles that had stopped by a highway near the town of Wakefield, MA, with the occupants wearing military-style uniforms and  found to be carrying weapon, then nine of them fled into nearby woods when asked for information.

Police later held negotiations with the group, and all were taken into custody, the confrontation coming ahead of celebrations around the country to mark Independence Day.

US fashion giant Gap has confirmed it plans to close all its 81 stores in the UK and Ireland and go online-only, saying it would close all its stores “in a phased manner” between the end of August and the end of September, including 19 stores that were already scheduled to close in July as their leases were expiring.
