According to FDA, six cases were detected in more than 6.8 million doses of the vaccine, Johnson & Johnson has paused its EU rollout, which started this week, and it  follows similar cases after doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which prompted curbs to its use.

The FDA said it was recommending the temporary pause “out of an abundance of caution”, after confirming that one patient died from blood clotting complications, and another is in a critical condition.

All six cases were in women aged between 18 and 48, with symptoms appearing six to 13 days after vaccination.

The report did not say the city where the safe house was located, and only identified its source as an announcement from “a security source.”

According to Iran Press News Agency, Sabereen is an outlet connected to Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba (Movement of the Party of God’s Nobles), a Shiite militia in Iraq. Iran’s PressTV noted that no other news sources in northern Iraq have reported on the attack so far.

China expressed a grave concern about Japan’s decision to discharge nuclear wastewater from Fukushima nuclear plant into the sea, releasing a statement alleging that the  nuclear accident is one of the most serious in world history, with the leak of large amounts of radioactive materials has had far-reaching implications on the marine environment, food safety and human health.

A review report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) expert team points out that if the wastewater containing tritium from the Fukushima nuclear plant is discharged into the sea, it will affect the marine environment and people’s health of neighboring countries and that the treated wastewater needs to be further purified to remove other radionuclides.

The spokesperson said that despite doubts and opposition from home and abroad, Japan has unilaterally decided to release the Fukushima nuclear wastewater into the sea before exhausting all safe ways of disposal and without fully consulting with neighboring countries and the international community.

“This is highly irresponsible and will severely affect human health and the immediate interests of people in neighboring countries,” said the spokesperson.

Noting that oceans are mankind’s shared property, the spokesperson said how the wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear power plant is handled is not merely a domestic issue for Japan.

The spokesperson said China strongly urges the Japanese side to face up to its responsibility, follow the science, fulfill its international obligations and duly respond to the serious concerns of the international community, neighboring countries and its own people.

Young black people have been hardest hit by unemployment during the pandemic, new research indicates.

Over the past year, the UK jobless rate for young black people rose by more than a third to 35%, the Resolution Foundation think tank said.

That compared with a rate of 24% for young people of Asian descent and a rate of 13% for young white people, both up three percentage points.

The foundation said Covid had widened existing gaps between ethnic groups.

It added that young people in general had borne the brunt of job losses in lockdown, because they disproportionately worked in sectors hit by the crisis, such as hospitality and leisure.

At the height of the pandemic last year, between the second and third quarters of 2020, the unemployment rate among 18 to 24-year-olds rose from 11.5% to 13.6%, the foundation said.

US President Joe Biden plans to publicly set the deadline for the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan to 11 September, the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, as White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced that the president would deliver remarks laying out his troop withdrawal plans on Wednesday:

Maharashtra, the Indian state worst affected by the coronavirus, has announced sweeping new restrictions amid a wave of Covid-19 infections, and even though Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray stopped short of calling it a lockdown, but said for the next 15 days, only essential services would function, and gatherings of more than four and non-essential travel on public transport would be banned:

MOSCOW (Sputnik) –  A study by Argentine scientists and cited by the country’s government has shown the Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V prompts a high immune response even with a single dose, so last month, the Argentine government decided to delay second doses of vaccines in a bid to offset the shortages in drugs against the COVID-19 disease across the world:

“A global analysis of the immune response induced by the Sputnik V vaccine, in which 288 individuals participated, indicates that 94% showed the presence of specific antibodies after receiving a single dose,” the government said, citing the study.
Notably, 61 participants were previously infected with COVID-19. According to the study, they had 4.6 times more antibodies after the Russian vaccine shot than the rest of the group.
