The MOU lays the foundations to give further impetus to almost 20 years of outstanding cooperation with the United States with whom we share the conviction that preserving our cultural heritage is indispensable for studying and deepening our knowledge of the past and building a better future.”
“The United States and Italy have worked together to stop looting and trafficking of Italy’s archaeological heritage since 2001 when our countries first entered into a bilateral agreement. It has been a model for cooperation in combating the loss of such priceless cultural heritage. Parker, after was found guilty by a jury on Feb. 21, 2020, of three counts of distribution of controlled substances outside the scope of professional practice and without a legitimate medical purpose.
The defendant was charged in an April 2019 indictment as part of the first Appalachian Regional Prescription Opioid (ARPO) Strike Force Takedown, and his conviction was the first guilty trial verdict for the ARPO Strike Force.
“The Department of Justice is committed to ensuring that physicians who abuse their power to promote and prolong drug addiction for their own benefit are punished accordingly,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian Rabbitt of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.
“Opioid misuse and abuse is an insidious epidemic, created in large part by the over-prescribing and diversion of potent opioids,” said U.S. Attorney D. Michael Dunavant of the Western District of Tennessee.
“This sentence demonstrates our ability and resolve to aggressively prosecute and hold accountable any medical personnel who misuse their positions of trust to exploit the very people coming to them for help.”

Rescue teams ploughed through concrete blocks and the debris of eight collapsed buildings in search of survivors of a powerful earthquake that struck Turkey’s Aegean coast and north of the Greek island of Samos, killing at least 28 people, fortunately authorities in the Turkish city of Izmir have managed to rescue people from the rubble, with many residents sleeping outside for fear of aftershocks, after more than 800 others were injured, casualties so far numbered to at least 26 people in Turkey, and two people were killed on the Greek island of Samos.

The quake hit Friday afternoon, toppling buildings in Izmir, Turkey’s third-largest city, and triggering a small tsunami in the district of Seferihisar and on Samos, followed by hundreds of aftershocks, as onlookers cheered as rescuers lifted teenager Inci Okan out of the rubble of a devastated eight-floor apartment block in Izmir’s Bayrakli district.

There’s no question who North Korea would prefer to see in the White House: incumbent Donald Trump, after Comrade Un  has called Joe Biden a “rabid dog” that should be “beaten to death with a stick”, following remarks by “Uncle” Joe”, “Sleeping in a wrong century” Biden who criticized President Trump for putting-up with “thug” Kim Jong-un, implying that Mr. Kim will be a “tough” adversary with enhanced nuclear capabilities:

“He’s legitimized North Korea, he’s talked about his good buddy, who’s a thug — a thug — and he talks about how we’re better off,” Mr. Biden said at the final presidential debate.

North Korea isn’t too impressed with Mr. Biden, either. Last year state news outlet KCNA called him a “rabid dog” — misspelling his name “Baiden” in the process — and said such dogs “must be beaten to death with a stick”.

Mr. Trump at his rally in Wisconsin called for the state to “open up … and you’ve got to do it fast”, even though the state has recorded more than 30,000 cases in the past week.

DETROIT – A former University of Michigan professor is facing charges of child exploitation of a minor following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Today, ICE HSI Special Agent in Charge Vance Callendar joined United States Attorney Matthew Schneider in announcing the unsealing of an indictment charging the Ann Arbor, Michigan man with two counts of transporting a minor girl across state lines with the intent to engage in sexual conduct.

Charged was Stephen Shipps, 67, of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Shipps was arrested this morning and will be appearing in federal court for his arraignment via Zoom at 1pm today.

From 1989 to 2019, Shipps was employed by the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance as a violin professor. Shipps was also the director of the Strings Preparatory Program, which offered instruction to young musicians ranging from elementary school through high school-age. Shipps retired from the University of Michigan in February 2019. In addition, Shipps served on the faculties of Indiana University, the North Carolina School of the Arts, the University of Nebraska – Omaha, and the Banff Centre in Canada. He also taught students at summer music programs in the Czech Republic, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

The indictment alleges that in February and March of 2002, as well as in June and July of 2002, Shipps knowingly transported a young girl, who was under 18 years old, across state lines, and Shipps intended to engage in sexual activity with her.
