A Detroit-area physician pleaded guilty today to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances for his participation in a scheme to unlawfully distribute more than 23,000 pills of Oxycodone.

Alex Kafi, M.D., 70, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances before U.S. District Judge Victoria A. Roberts of the Eastern District of Michigan. Sentencing has been scheduled for Jan. 9, 2019 before Judge Roberts.

As part of his guilty plea, Kafi admitted that from 2013 through May 2017, he engaged in a scheme where he wrote medically unnecessary prescriptions for Oxycodone in exchange for cash. Kafi wrote these fraudulent prescriptions often without ever meeting or communicating with the patient. Instead, Kafi conspired with patient marketers, who provided lists of patients to Kafi, along with $300 per prescription of Oxycodone. Kafi admitted the scheme involved approximately 693,000 mg of Oxycodone and he agreed to forfeit $617,208.00, which were proceeds of his criminal activity.

This case was investigated by the FBI, HHS-OIG and the DEA. Trial Attorney Steven Scott of the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section is prosecuting the case.

“We came across a mixed group with two species: rough-toothed dolphins, and what appeared, at first, to be two melon-headed whales,” said Robin Baird, a research biologist with the Cascadia Research Collective that sighted of a hybrid of two dolphin species of the Hawaii island of Kauai.

A skin sample was collected for a DNA testing and indicated the hybrid had the mitochondrial haplotype of a melon-headed whale (actually a species of dolphin), which means the mother was a melon-headed whale, and the father was a rough-toothed dolphin.

This is raising a troubling question: Is “Global Warming” leading to a DNA mutation in species? Are the humans next, or have they already mutated, judging from the idiotic “talking heads” distortions on “Fake News” mainstream media?

World airlines have been forced to take Boeing’s Dreamliner aircraft out of service while Rolls-Royce fixed the problem with Trent 1000 turbine blades that necessitated inspection every 300 flight hours.

Consequently, Rolls-Royce is taking a charge of £554m to cover costs related to problems, contributing to a pre-tax loss for Rolls-Royce in the first half of the year of £1.26bn.

“We continued to make good progress in the first half. Financial results were ahead of our expectations, with strong growth from civil aerospace and power systems, and we achieved a number of operational and technological milestones,” chief executive Warren East said.

Wearing a hard “Inspector” hat, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte supervised as a bulldozer and excavators crews crushed almost 300 million pesos ($7.4 million) worth of luxury vehicles, including a Lamborghini, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, and Harley-Davidson motorbikes.

 In a speech after the ceremony, Mr. Duterte said the destruction was a demonstration of his administration’s tough stance on illegal importers:

“I decided to destroy these [contraband vehicles] because you have to show the world that you have a viable place of investment and business,” said Mr. Duterte, known for his harsh anti-crime policies. It’s not the first time Mr. Duterte has ordered the crushing of smuggled cars. Three members of notorious international cybercrime group, identified as Ukrainian nationals Dmytro Fedorov, 44, Fedir Hladyr, 33, and Andrii Kolpakov, 30, all members of a prolific hacking group widely known as FIN7 (also referred to as the Car bank Group and the Navigator Group, among other names), that since at least 2015 has engaged in a highly sophisticated malware campaign targeting more than 100 U.S. companies, predominantly in the restaurant, gaming, and hospitality industries.

As outlined in indictments, FIN7 hacked into thousands of computer systems and stole millions of customer credit and debit card numbers, which the group used or sold for profit.

“The three Ukrainian nationals indicted today allegedly were part of a prolific hacking group that targeted American companies and citizens by stealing valuable consumer data, including personal credit card information, that they then sold on the Darknet,” said Assistant Attorney General Benczkowski. “Because hackers are committed to finding new ways to harm the American public and our economy, the Department of Justice remains steadfast in its commitment to working with our law enforcement partners to identify, interdict, and prosecute those responsible for these threats.”

The 13-nation military exercise “Noble Partner 2018” kicked off in Georgia’s Vaziani military base on Wednesday with over 3,000 soldiers taking part, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Britain, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States. 

At the opening ceremony on the outskirts of Tbilisi, Georgia’s Defense Minister Levan Izoria said the goal is to make the armed forces a full-fledged contributor to international peace and security.

Dixons Carphone disclosed a massive data breach that took place last year involving 10 million customers, up from its original estimate of 1.2 million, and that has been investigating the hack since it was discovered in June.

Personal information, names, addresses and email addresses might have been accessed last year, but no bank details were taken, and no evidence that fraud had resulted from the breach has been discovered.

The hackers also got access to records of 5.9 million payments cards, but the chip and pin system protected nearly all accounts, with Dixons saying it was “very sorry for any distress” caused and it would be apologizing to customers soon.

President Trump has been saying that he regrets picking Sessions as the nation’s top law enforcement officer for a quite long time:

Departments of Justice and Labor Formalize New Partnership to Protect U.S. Workers From Discrimination and Combat Visa Abuse.

Today, the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division and the Department of Labor (DOL) expanded their collaboration to better protect U.S. workers from discrimination by employers that prefer to hire temporary visa workers over qualified U.S. workers. This new partnership, memorialized in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), establishes protocols for the agencies to share information, refer matters between them, and train each other’s employees, with the goal of better protecting U.S. workers. This partnership will enhance the Civil Rights Division’s efforts to stop companies from discriminating against U.S. workers and assist the Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration in identifying noncompliance with its foreign labor certification process.

“Employers should hire workers based on their skills, experience, and authorization to work; not based on discriminatory preferences that violate the law,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General John Gore of the Civil Rights Division. “Our partnership with DOL, formalized today, significantly enhances the Civil Rights Division’s ability to identify employers that favor temporary visa holders over U.S. workers who can do the job.”

“Streamlining the process for information sharing between the Department of Labor and the Department of Justice will help protect U.S. workers from unlawful discrimination,” said Rosemary Lahasky, Deputy Assistant Secretary for DOL’s Employment and Training Administration. “This partnership will help ensure U.S. workers are prioritized to fill jobs.”

A US Federal judge had blocked the planned release of 3D-printed-gun blueprints hours before they were set to hit the Internet, pointing out that the publication of the files is now illegal under federal law, and that the accessibility of 3D printers could lead to ‘irreparable harm” to citizens.

The decision blocked a settlement President Donald Trump’s administration had reached with a Texas-based company, which initially said it planned to put files online on Wednesday (local time).

Gun-control proponents are concerned the weapons made from 3D printers are untraceable, undetectable “ghost” firearms that pose a threat to global security. Some gun rights groups say the technology is expensive, the guns are unreliable and the threat is being overblown.
