A Thai woman, identified as the former civil servant, known only as Anchan, has been jailed for 43 years for criticizing the royal family, the country’s harshest ever sentence for insulting the monarchy, all this for posting audio clips from a podcast on social media, and the 63-year-old said she had simply shared the audio files and had not commented on the content.

Thailand’s lèse-majesté law, which forbids any insult to the monarchy, is among the strictest in the world, and after a three-year break, Thailand revived the controversial law late last year in an attempt to curb months of antigovernmental protests, with demonstrators demanding changes to the monarchy.

Anchan pleaded guilty to 29 separate violations of sharing and posting clips on YouTube and Facebook between 2014 and 2015, her lawyer told the Reuters news agency.

She was initially sentenced to 87 years, but this was cut in half because of her guilty plea.

“ATF Washington and FBI WFO [Washington Field Office] offering a reward of up to $75K for info about the person(s) responsible for the placement of suspected pipe bombs in [Washington] DC on January 6th,” the statement said.

The FBI noted that at around 1:00 p.m. on January 6, multiple law enforcement agencies received reports of a suspected pipe bomb at the Republican National Committee headquarters and 15 minutes later a second suspected pipe bomb was reported at the Democratic National Committee headquarters.
The FBI continues to call on people across the country to send information, photos and videos that can help the ongoing investigation, according to media reports.
On January 6, a group of supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed Capitol Hill to protest lawmakers certifying elector slates from battleground states Trump claims are invalid and robbed him of election victory. At least three people died in the incident, including a female Air Force veteran who was shot by police. The authorities have opened more than 170 cases in connection with the riot.

Announcing the 10 measures, Mr. Biden said it would take months to defeat the pandemic but America would “get through this” if people stood together, with the moves come a day after Mr. Biden was sworn in as the 46th president.
In a break with former President Donald Trump, the policy stresses a national strategy rather than relying on states to decide what is best, as the Trump administration was widely accused of failing to get to grips with the pandemic, hence in terms of total deaths from coronavirus, the US is the worst-hit country with more than 406,000 lives lost, and nearly 24.5 million have been infected.
