Two leaders of the national gang the Gangster Disciples, identified as Shauntay Craig, aka Shake, 42, of Birmingham, Alabama, who was sentenced to 40 years in prison, and Donald Glass, aka Smurf, 30, of Decatur, Georgia, was sentenced to life plus 120 months in prison, as Craig pleaded guilty in August 2019 to racketeering conspiracy involving murder and drug trafficking, and Glass was convicted by a federal jury in May 2019 of racketeering conspiracy involving murder, discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, causing death through the use of a firearm for the murder of Robert Dixon, and other firearms crimes.
“As leaders of the Gangster Disciples, these defendants terrorized communities across the country by engaging in, and ordering others to engage in, multiple acts of violence, including murder,” said Nicholas L. McQuaid, Acting Assistant Attorney General of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.
“The significant sentences imposed upon defendant Craig for his national leadership role in the gang, and defendant Glass for his creation of an army of teenagers who shot and killed indiscriminately, demonstrate that even the most sophisticated and ruthless gangs are no match for the coordinated efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement.”

“President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. spoke today with President Emmanuel Macron of France to express his desire to strengthen bilateral ties with our oldest ally. President Biden also stressed his commitment to bolstering the transatlantic relationship, including through NATO and the United States’ partnership with the European Union. They also agreed to work together on shared foreign policy priorities, including China, the Middle East, Russia, and the Sahel,” an indication of a new direction in US foreign policy.
Meanwhile, the Elysee Palace said that the two leaders had “a friendly and in-depth working conversation” on Sunday, noting similarities in views on multilateral issues, as well as on issues relating to international security.
“They also noted their convergences and their willingness to act together for peace and stability in the Near and Middle East, in particular on the Iranian nuclear issue and on the situation in Lebanon. The two Presidents agreed to keep in very close contact in the coming weeks on these topics and on our entire common agenda,” the Elysee Palace said.
