The government in China has ordered that international tour groups be suspended, and inter-province shuttle buses halted  in an effort to curb the spread of the deadly corona-virus, following a speech at a Communist Party leadership meeting by President Xi Jinping. who  said his country “faced with the grave situation of an accelerating spread of the new corona-virus,” but that the country will “definitely be able to win the battle.”Life is of paramount importance,” Mr. Xi said.

The outbreak is believed to have originated in the eastern Chinese city of Wuhan and has spread to several other countries, including the US, France, and Australia. Some 1,300 people are believed to be infected, with at least 41 deaths reported. Hong Kong’s senior official Carrie Lam declared a virus emergency in the city, shutting down transport links, schools and universities.

President Trump’s lawyers unleashed full pledged attack on Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler & Co,  defending him at his impeachment trial, and accusing Democrats of seeking to overturn the result of the 2016 election:

“The president did absolutely nothing wrong,” Lead White House Counsel Pat Cipollone said on the first of three days, following the Democrats’ prosecution case which ended on Friday, on charges linked to his dealings with Ukraine, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

The trial in the Senate will decide if Mr. Trump should be removed from office, which is highly unlikely since the Republicans control the Senate and any such move would need a two-thirds majority.

Echoing a line heard from many Republicans, Mr. Cipollone said Democrats were “asking you not only to overturn the results of the last election… they’re asking you to remove President Trump from the ballot in the election that’s occurring in approximately nine months.”

“They are asking you to do something very, very consequential and, I would submit to you … very, very dangerous,” he said.
