CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A 22-year-old Houston man, identified as Maksim Klopovs admitted that he was to be paid for picking up a large load of electronics originally set for delivery to a college in Corpus Christi, after the shipment left the warehouse in Illinois, someone changed the delivery instructions using an online system, and rather than deliver it directly to Del Mar College, the shipping company was asked to hold the load at their Corpus Christi warehouse for pickup.

Klopovs is scheduled to be sentenced on April 6, facing up to 10 years in federal prison and a possible $250,000 maximum fine.

According to these charges, the defendants were committed supporters of ISIS, recruited others to ISIS’s violent cause, purchased materials for and made IEDs, helped to prepare and trained others who participated in the attacks, and murdered in the name of this deadly foreign terrorist organization. They are in custody in Sri Lanka. We fully support the Sri Lankan investigation and prosecution of these terrorists and will continue to work with the authorities there to pursue our shared goal of holding these defendants accountable for their crimes. At the same time, these charges reflect that the U.S. justice system remains a powerful tool to bring to bear against those who harm our citizens abroad. We will continue to pursue justice for the victims of these heinous attacks and for all American victims of terrorism.”

“This case clearly demonstrates that the United States will take decisive action to ensure terrorists face justice when they target Americans anywhere in the world,” said Nick Hanna, the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California.

Richard Barnett, 60, of Gravette, Arkansas is to face the law on multiple criminal charges related to his alleged unlawful activities earlier this week at the U.S. Capitol Building where he was photographed with his feet up on a desk in the Speaker of the House of Representatives’ office, later on being arrested in Bentonville, Arkansas, scheduled to make his initial appearance in federal court, to be ultimately be extradited to Washington, D.C:

“The shocking images of Mr. Barnett with his boots up on a desk in the Speaker of the House’s office on Wednesday was repulsive,” said Jeffrey A. Rosen, Acting Attorney General of the United States.

“Those who are proven to have committed criminal acts during the storming of the Capitol will face justice.”

The US has increased its efforts in detecting new COVID-19 mutations in this country, and the White House coronavirus task force believes another highly infectious variant of the coronavirus may have evolved in the United States, according to a document that was sent out to other members of our union, with the new strain is already surging in our communities alongside the variant first detected in the United Kingdom and could be 50 percent more transmissible, the rate of infection almost double the number registered during spring and summer:

“This acceleration suggests there may be a USA variant that has evolved here, in addition to the UK variant that is already spreading in our communities and may be 50% more transmissible,” the report said.
“Aggressive mitigation must be used to match a more aggressive virus; without uniform implementation of effective face masking (two or three ply and well-fitting) and strict social distancing, epidemics could quickly worsen as these variants spread and become predominant.”

According to the data of Johns Hopkins University, the US is seeing at least around 228,000 new COVID-19 cases every day, accompanied by at least 2,700 deaths related to the virus per day.
