Today the United States Military Academy at West Point graduated more than 1,000 cadets in an in-person ceremony, and despite the COVID-19 pandemic, with President Trump delivering an emotional graduation speech to the class of 2020 West Point future military leaders.
Cadets were invited to the academy for the mandatory ceremony, under coronavirus restrictions, after they left the academy in March, as all students had a 14-day quarantine ahead of the ceremony, and the event took place with social-distancing restrictions in place.

Demonstrations and protests opposing police violence against African American people have been underway in various US cities since late May, following the killing of an African American man, George Floyd, in police custody.
The governor of Kentucky, a Democrat rival of President Donald Trump, said that he has clinched support from lawmakers in the president’s party to remove a statue dedicated to Confederate soldiers from the state which many consider synonymous with the state’s history of black slavery.
Over the pond in old Europe, counter-protesters stood under Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square ahead of a Black Lives Matter protest following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody, in London, Britain, and clashes exploded as defenders of monuments, BLM protesters rally at Trafalgar Square in London.
Meanwhile in Paris protesters marched from central ’ Place de la Republique in a large-scale rally against racism and police brutality inspired by the US Black Lives Matter movement, with authorities have ordered stores and restaurants along the march’s route to close fearing eruptions of violence.
