2…………> The Border Wall Battle: Trump’s Message

.

Trump Was Right: Transparency a Good Thing in Border Wall Debate with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer:
“When House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York tried to move their Oval Office debate with President Trump over border wall funding behind closed doors, Trump had the right response,” Philip Klein writes. “It’s not bad, Nancy,” the President said. “It’s called transparency.”

3…………> Melania Message: Stop Bullying

First Lady Spreads Anti-Bullying Message at Kids’ Hospital

“Melania Trump spread her anti-bullying message on an annual Christmas season visit to a Washington children’s hospital on Thursday, reading a story about a Christmas ornament named Oliver who is bullied by other ornaments in a family’s collection,” Darlene Superville writes for The Associated Press.

The author of the children’s book sat a few feet away, thanking the First Lady “from the bottom of my heart” for inviting him to join her. “Mrs. Trump launched an initiative earlier this year to teach kindness to children, naming it Be Best,” Superville adds.

4…………> A Busy Holiday Season: White House

.

As Christmas approaches, President Donald J. Trump and the First Family have been hard at work to ensure every American has a fantastic holiday season.

On the policy side, the President has focused on delivering several crucial wins before the calendar turns to 2019:
On Tuesday, he met with Democratic leaders in the Oval Office to make clear border security is non-negotiable when it comes to funding our Government.

Yesterday, he signed an “Opportunity Zones” executive order that will help drive investment into the most underserved communities in America.

This week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) vowed to bring the First Step Act— crucial criminal justice reform that President Trump is backing strongly—to the Senate floor.
The Christmas season is also about supporting our fellow Americans.

The First Lady kicked off the week by joining the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for its annual Toys for Tots drive in Washington. “As a mother, I believe children are the most precious gift,” she said, donating 100 books for the Toys for Tots Literacy Program—a project that dovetails with the First Lady’s own “Be Best” initiative for children. (See photos from the event.)

Yesterday, the First Lady honored our heroes in uniform—many of whom will be serving our country over the Christmas season. She made stops at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, and the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier. She also flew in a V-22 Osprey military plane, becoming the first First Lady ever to do so.

And today, the First Lady traveled to Children’s National Hospital in Washington. The visit is a unique tradition that’s been followed by every First Lady since Bess Truman more than 60 years ago.

5…………> Lifting The Forgotten Americans: President Trump

.

Opportunity Zones are a vital part of the tax cuts signed into law by President Donald J. Trump last December. Today, they got another huge boost.

“For decades, job growth and investment have been concentrated in a few major metropolitan areas,” the President said after signing an executive order to create the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council. “Some cities have thrived, while others have suffered chronic economic and social hardship. With Opportunity Zones, we are drawing investment into neglected and underserved communities of America.”

The purpose of Opportunity Zones is to lift up communities that have been neglected by Washington and left behind for far too long. The typical family income in these areas is 37 percent below their state’s median level. The average poverty rate is 32 percent—almost double the national average. Nearly 35 million Americans live in these communities. Now, help is on the way.

Here’s how it works: Tax relief is offered in exchange for long-term investments in the low-income communities that need it most. These more impoverished areas begin to see more job creation and lasting growth. This private investment fuels human potential in these communities, whereas government spending programs too often extinguish it.

The upshot: All Americans, regardless of zip code, should have access to the American Dream. With Opportunity Zones, we get closer to that reality.

1…………> A Human Wave: African Migrants

A total of 629 undocumented migrants have been rescued in the central Mediterranean, a European migrant rescue agency said on Sunday.

“After a very busy night in Central ‪#Mediterranean, 629 people, including 123 unaccompanied minors, 11 children, 7 pregnant women, [which were] rescued in 6 separate operations are now aboard the ‪#Aquarius.”
“After rescuing 229 people […] the #Aquarius then took 400 more people, [who were] earlier rescued by Italian navy, Italian coastguard & merchant’s vessels,” the non-governmental organization SOS Mediterranee said, referring to its rescue ship “Aquarius”.

2…………> Happy 92th “Dear Mum”: Queen Elizabeth

Large crowds have gathered in London for the annual Trooping the Color to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 92nd birthday, as British Royal Air Force Red Arrows pilots performed a fly-past and hundreds of soldiers marched to Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall.

Joining the Queen to watch the event were other senior Royals, including Prince Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the first time Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, now known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, attended the Queen’s birthday celebrations together.

The Queen — who, until recent years, would attend on a horse — and the newlyweds arrived in open-top carriages at the event that has marked the sovereign’s official birthday for more than 260 years.

Prince Philip, who retired from public duties last year, did not attend the ceremony that involves more than 1,400 soldiers, 400 musicians, and 200 horses.

3…………> Mr. Trump Goes To G7: Punch, Punch

President Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he was backing out of the joint communique, confirming that he might double down on import tariffs by hitting the sensitive auto industry, and his adviser Larry Kudlow accused Canadian PM Justin Trudeau of betraying Mr. Trump with “polarizing” statements on trade policy, tossing the current tariffs dispute towards a full-blown diplomatic and trade crisis after Mr.Trump called him “very dishonest and weak”.

The spat drew in Germany and France, who sharply criticised Mr Trump’s decision to abruptly withdraw his support for a Group of Seven communique hammered out at a Canadian summit on Saturday (local time), accusing him of destroying trust and acting inconsistently.

PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meekly and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, “US Tariffs were kind of insulting” and he “will not be pushed around.” Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!

4:04 PM – Jun 9, 2018

91.7K people are talking about this

“Canada does not conduct its diplomacy through ad hominem attacks … and we refrain particularly from ad hominem attacks when it comes from a close ally,” a Canadian official told reporters in Quebec City.

“[Mr. Trudeau] really kind of stabbed us in the back,” Mr. Kudlow, the director of the National Economic Council who had accompanied Mr. Trump to the summit of wealthy nations on Saturday, said on CNN’s State of the Union.

4…………> United SCO: A G7 Havoc & Retreat

Unlike their “colleagues” at the highly unsuccessful G7 meeting in Ottawa, Canada, where the leftovers of our 1st Muslim President, Grand Ayatollah Barack Obama so called “New World Disorder” crowd spent days to draft a closing resolution that will underscore its unshakable unity in support of the global economy, just to get a big size 17 “Trump boot” in the face and his refusal to sign it, the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) held the annual summit of the Eurasian institution, with Chinese President Xi Jinping chaired the meeting.

Blatantly labeled by the “Fake News” media as the “bully boys” of the International community for their refusal to submit to the illegal monetary terror of the Central banks using the Forex market as a tool of political ends,
at the 18th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the SCO, Xi called for carrying forward the Shanghai Spirit to surmount difficulties, defuse risks and meet challenges.

Other SCO leaders also voiced their expectations of future cooperation in various areas so as to give full play to the organization’s role after its expansion.

5…………> The Gulag Years: KGB Archives

Russian newspaper Kommersant cited a Russian museum researching the history of Gulags as saying that prisoner data was being destroyed, presumably under a clandestine order, a claim denied by the Russian deputy minister of internal affairs Igor Zubov, who said that the Gulag documents are “kept forever,” in line with strict formal regulations. The statement followed multiple reports that prisoner records applying to notorious Gulag prison camps which operated in the Soviet Union all the way up to 1960 are allegedly being deleted.

The records of the mid-20th-century gulag program are — for the most part — ‘registration cards’ featuring prisoners’ personal data as well as tracking their movement between camps as well as their release date if any. In the event of death, authorities sent a special report for permanent storage in the archive. The survivors’ cards, naturally limited in number, often provided exclusive information about their fate.

Bibi1581.com can only wonder if somewhere in the maddening structure of the KGB there exists an identity card of my uncle who vanished while in custody of the state in 1953 and was reported shipped to the gold mines of the Soviet Union labor caps in the Kolyma River Far East region, never to be heard of again.
