An indictment against Joaquin Guzman Lopez and Ovidio Guzman Lopez, charging them with a conspiracy to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana for importation into the United States was unsealed last week, alleging that Guzman Lopez brothers, believed to currently reside in Mexico, are the sons of Joaquin Guzman Loera, aka “El Chapo,” who was convicted by a jury in the Eastern District of New York for his role as the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.
Joaquin Guzman Lopez, 34, and Ovidio Guzman Lopez, 28, are charged in a one-count indictment alleging that from in or around April 2008, through April 2018, they conspired to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana from Mexico and elsewhere for importation into the United States.

Two people were killed in a confrontation with security forces at the Brazil-Venezuela border, as violent clashes broke out on country’s border towns when trucks loaded with humanitarian aid tried to cross over from Brazil and Colombia, forcing Venezuelan soldiers to fire tear gas at opposition supporters who attemted to unload aid trucks at the frontier with Colombia, wounding hundreds of people.
At least two trucks carrying food and medicine from Colombia went up in flames after they came under fire from troops, and more than 60 members of Venezuela’s security forces have defected and crossed over to Colombia, with protesters in the street lighting fires during clashes at the Colombia-Venezuela border.
A truck convoy carrying 280 tons of nutritional supplements and medical supplies headed to different border bridges separating Colombia from Venezuela’s Tachira region on Saturday to fulfill Guaido’s promise to bring aid into the crisis-ravaged country.
