What the world learned on September 11, 2001 Seventeen years ago, America and the world were forever changed. More than a decade and a half before his election as President, Donald Trump was in New York City the day an unprecedented act of terror unfolded across our country.

Today, President Trump, the First Lady, Vice President Mike Pence, and the Second Lady honored two other communities that were struck by attacks that day: Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and Arlington, Virginia.

“This field is now a monument to American defiance,” the President said from the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania.

“We remember the moment when America fought back.

” This week, a new memorial opened at that site to commemorate the 40 brave passengers and crew members of Flight 93, whose actions that day prevented a likely attack on Washington, D.C.

The “Tower of Voices” is a 93-foot structure with 40 wind chimes to honor each of their lives.

“Every time we hear those chimes playing in the wind, we will remember The Forty. We will remember their faces, their voices, their stories, their courage, and their love,” the President said.

The Pentagon estimates that the cost of war since the fateful terror attacks on 9/11 rounds out to $1.5 trillion, yet experts maintain that this figure wildly underestimates the true financial burden of perpetual war. “

Ten years ago, in 2008, Harvard’s Linda Bilmes and Columbia University’s Joseph Stiglitz found that the cost of the Iraq and Afghan conflicts alone totaled $3 trillion.

The “Costs of War” study by Brown University’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs estimates that from 2001 to 2017, Congress appropriated $4.35 trillion for war and war-related expenses.

The Pentagon study tracks just three areas of spending: “war-related operational costs,” such as training, operating tempo, base support, and equipment maintenance; “support for deployed troops,” including food, clothing and medical treatment for troops currently overseas; and “transportation of personnel and equipment.”

In its addendum, Brown’s Watson Institute notes, “[c]umulative interest on war appropriations through FY 2013 is currently estimated to add more than $7.9 trillion to these totals by 2056.” Thus, Brown’s estimate adds up to $13.5 trillion — nine times more than DoD’s estimate. Perhaps for this reason, Blimes has dubbed these wars the “credit card wars.”

Independent counsel Ken Starr, who probed whether the 42nd president’s receiving oral sex from White House intern Monica Lewinsky counted as “sexual intercourse,” has released a new book that claims 2016 presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was both a “systematic enabler” of her spouse’s years of cheating and was vital in helping clean up her husband’s messes, as Clinton’s impeachment proceedings are approaching their 20th anniversary.

According to Starr’s new memoir, “Contempt: A Memoir of the Clinton Investigation,” Hillary Clinton decided to spin Bill Clinton’s ruinous affairs as some crazy conservative conspiracy theory “to avert the nation’s gaze from her husband’s many crimes.”

“I was upset over Mrs. Clinton’s performance, and was even considering bringing the matter before the Washington grand jury for possible indictment on perjury,” Starr writes in the memoir.

While Bill Clinton was “always pleasant as he avoided answering” questions with Starr, “in the space of three hours, she [Hillary] claimed, by our count, over a hundred times that she ‘did not recall’ or ‘did not remember,'” the attorney writes.

“This suggested outright mendacity. To be sure, human memory is notoriously fallible, but her strained performance struck us as preposterous. [P]roving that someone knowingly lied when they said ‘I don’t recall’ or ‘I don’t remember’ is extremely difficult, especially if that person is the first lady. What was clear was that Mrs. Clinton couldn’t be bothered to make it appear as if she were telling the truth.”

“Other stops on the Clinton blame train… included the ever-ominous fake news (‘We did not engage in false content… we weren’t in the same category as the [Republicans]’); Facebook (‘If you look at Facebook, the vast majority of the news items posted were fake. They were connected to, as we now know, the 1,000 Russian agents… They were related to the bots’); the DNC (‘I inherited nothing from the Democratic Party. It was bankrupt. It was on the verge of insolvency… its data was mediocre to the poor’) and others.”

Starr’s depiction of Bill Clinton paints a picture of a “flawed president who believed he was above the law. By the end of this book, my account of the legacy of Bill and Hillary Clinton — a legacy of contempt — I believe most reasonable, open-minded people will agree with me. Or at least they should agree with my basic proposition: that President Clinton and the first lady knowingly embarked on a continuing course of action that was contemptuous of our revered system of justice. I make this bold statement for one key reason: The basic facts are undisputed. The continuing debate is really about the conclusions that ‘We the People’ choose to draw from the crystal-clear record.”

Florence is churning toward the United States eastern seaboard as a storm of “staggering” size, forcing a million people to evacuate the coast.

The hurricane becomes category four disturbance as it nears North and South Carolina, with winds up to 140 mi/h National Hurricane Centre says Florence intensifying, could strengthen to category 5 More than 1 million people are under orders to evacuate the Carolina coast

“This one scares me,” National Hurricane Centre director Ken Graham warned. Florence is so full that a life-threatening storm surge was being pushed 320 miles  ahead of its eye, swirling clouds that could deluge states from South Carolina to Ohio and Pennsylvania as it slows and then stalls over land.

“You’re going to get heavy rain, catastrophic, life-threatening storm surge and also the winds,” Mr. Graham said.

 We have to wait and see if new Fed chair Powell will attempt to destroy Eurasian block by sending gold prices below 1000, despite the fact both Russia and China have been buying their whole gold production in local gold backed currency instead of money printing machines. In other words, US has lost controls of the precious metals complex, and with Trump’s infrastructure and tax cut campaign the National debt will soon be at, or over 30 trillion dollars, since D.C. swamp alligators have no intention dropping their pet projects.
