SYNDEY – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Canberra provided the Australian Border Force (ABF) with information that resulted in the seizure of 552 kilograms of cocaine worth an estimated $248 million. The operation leading to the seizure began in September 2020 following information from HSI on a suspected shipment containing drugs destined for Australia.
HSI Canberra provided Australian authorities with details on the possibility of narcotics smuggled into Australia concealed as bananas from Brazil. The container was identified and inspected by the ABF on Sept. 21 and held for further investigation by the Australian Federal Police (AFP). ABF officers identified anomalies within the approximately 275 boxes in the shipment that contained banana pulp, and upon closer examination, ultimately discovered cocaine hidden within the banana pulp bags.
“This joint investigation demonstrates the importance of strong international partnerships when it comes to dismantling transnational criminal organizations,” said ICE Canberra Attaché Adam Parks.
“By working together, we were able to swiftly gather crucial information on the smuggling of cocaine through a shipment of fruit to Australia. I commend HSI Brazil and our Australian partners their professionalism, devotion and unrelenting efforts on targeting organizations and individuals involved in these major transnational crimes.”

Early US voting both by mail and in-person has surged to record highs ahead of Election Day on 3 November, mostly driven to a degree by the COVID-19 pandemic, as about 36 per cent of registered voters had already cast ballots, following election officials issuing warnings that early voting ballots sent via the US Postal Service might fail to arrive in time to be counted.
Amid a record surge in early voting by mail and in-person, with less than a week to go until Election Day on 3 November, more than 42 million out of the 92 million mail ballots requested by voters nationally are yet to be returned, according to data supplied by the US Elections Project by Wednesday afternoon.
Based on national first-class mail service projections, 27 October was the informal deadline by which ballots could be mailed to ensure delivery in time for Election Day, according to postal and election administration experts.
In the midst of the open war between the two political camps, the outcome of this year’s US presidential election could be delayed for weeks, and even disputed in the Supreme Court as tens of millions of voters cast their ballots by mail, with “Uncle” Joe, “Sleeping in a wrong century” Biden has refused to rule out increasing the size of the court so he can pack it with liberal justices.
Not surprisingly, President Trump has recently warned Supreme Court justices against ruling favor of Democratic candidate Joe Biden if next week’s election is disputed.
In a tweet in the early hours this morning, Trump warned the nine sitting justices – including the newly-appointed Amy Coney Barrett – that Biden would increase the size of the bench and pack the court with “radical left” appointees if he becomes president.
He also claimed Biden would end the life tenure of Supreme Court justices and introduce rotating membership.
