Anchorage is deployed as part of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).

The Essex ARG/ 13th MEU is a capable and lethal Navy-Marine Corps team deployed to the 7thfleet area of operations to support regional stability, reassure partners and allies and maintain a presence postured to respond to any crisis ranging from humanitarian assistance to contingency operations.

Anonymous sources within “Deep State” parallel US government have disclosed that President Trump has applied pressure on the military to fund construction of the border wall, having pitched the idea to both Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and to House Speaker Paul Ryan, the Post reported.

The move comes after Trump failed to secure $25 billion for construction of the wall from Congress in the recently signed omnibus spending bill, with White House press secretary Sarah Sanders refusing to say whether or not the wall build by the military posed constitutional issues.
