1…………> End To “Charade” Trade: Mnuchin

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said President Donald Trump was “determined to deal” with what he considered an unfair foreign competition, and that there is “more to come” on trade tariffs, following steep tariffs on imported washing machines and solar panels.

The tariffs, of up to 50% were levied on manufacturers from China and South Korea, the primary targets of the measure.

2…………> Medical Fraud:CA

Drs. Aytac Apaydin and Stephen Worsham, urologists based in Northern California, will pay $1.085 million to resolve allegations that they submitted and caused the submission of false claims to Medicare for image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) that was referred and billed in violation of the physician self-referral law (commonly known as the “Stark Law”) and the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Department of Justice announced.

“Health care laws prevent health care providers, and physicians in particular, from referring Medicare services in exchange for financial incentives,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Chad A. Readler of the Justice Department’s Civil Division. “The Department of Justice is committed to enforcing those laws and preventing physicians from improperly injecting profit motives into their decisions about patient care.”

The Anti-Kickback Statute and the Stark Law are intended to ensure that a physician’s medical judgment is not compromised by improper financial incentives, hence prohibiting offering, paying, soliciting, or receiving remuneration to induce referrals of items or services covered by federal health care programs, including Medicare. The Stark Law forbids health care providers from billing Medicare for certain services referred by physicians who have a financial relationship with the entity performing the service, unless an exception applies.

3………….> Industrial Espionage: China

Federal authorities arrested electrical engineer  Yi-Chi Shih, 62, and Kiet Ahn Mai, 63, both naturalized U.S. citizens on federal charges of illegally obtaining technology and integrated circuits with military applications that were exported to a Chinese company without the required export license.

“According to the complaint, the defendants allegedly schemed to illegally export semiconductors having military and civilian applications to a Chinese company,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Boente. “Protecting this type of technology and preventing its illegal acquisition by our adversaries remains a key priority in preserving our national security.”

“This case outlines a scheme to secure proprietary technology, some of which was allegedly sent to China, where it could be used to provide companies there with significant advantages that would compromise U.S. business interests,” said U.S. Attorney Hanna. “The very sensitive information would also benefit foreign adversaries who could use the technology to further or develop military applications that would be detrimental to our national security.”

4…………>Mayon Erupts In Fire: Philippines

At least 56,217 people were taking shelter in 46 evacuation camps as army troops and police were helping move more villagers from their homes, officials said.

The alert for the volcano, in the province of Albay, was raised from level three to level four on Monday. The highest alert level is five.

5…………>Died Free: Alcatraz Trio

“My name is John Anglin,” letter  to CBS San Francisco  reads.
“I escape (sic) from Alcatraz in June 1962 with my brother Clarence and Frank Morris. I’m 83 years old and in bad shape. I have cancer. Yes we all made it that night but barely.”

“If you announce on TV that I will be promised to first go to jail for no more than a year and get medical attention, I will write back to let you know exactly where I am. This is no joke,” the letter  letter that claims to be written by a former inmate at Alcatraz who — along with two others — managed to escape the island prison only to vanish without a trace.

If still alive, Morris would be 90 and brothers John and Clarence, would be 86 and 87.

John Cantwell, National Park Service ranger, said that according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons the trio drowned “once they got off” the island and their bodies were swept out to the Pacific.

“End of story,” he said.

“Apparently not,” the letter is suggesting.

6…………> Surrounded By Idiots: Trump

President Trump slammed Senate Minority Leader Chuck “I cried tears for the Muslims” Schumer for agreeing, then backing-off a deal to support border wall funding in return for an immigration package that protects illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children.

Donald J. Trump

Cryin’ Chuck Schumer fully understands, especially after his humiliating defeat, that if there is no Wall, there is no DACA. We must have safety and security, together with a strong Military, for our great people!
