Two people have been arrested in Berlin and one in the state of Saxony by the Polish border as over 200 officers took part in a series of pre-dawn raids across the Islamic Merkeldom of Germany in an attempt to foil a major international migrant trafficking ring.

Seven apartments and business premises were searched in the German states of Berlin, Saxony, with alleged criminal arrested appeared to be Turkish, Polish and Bulgarian nationals.

Charges were unsealed today against a government contractor named Chester L. Neal Jr., 43, of Fresno, California following his arrest in St. Louis, Missouri, for his role in allegedly carrying out a $2.6 million scheme to defraud at least 35 subcontractors located across the United States.

Neal established and controlled several companies through which he secured at least 105 government contracts to provide various goods and services to federal agencies including the Department of Interior, U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, and made several misrepresentations in order to induce the subcontractors to perform the contractually required work, defrauding them out of at least $2.6 million.

A red moon will grace the sky in most parts of China for over an hour during a total lunar eclipse on Wednesday night, according to the Beijing Planetarium.

The lunar eclipse, which is expected to begin at 7:48 p.m., will last for about five hours. As the moon passes into Earth’s shadow, it will exhibit a reddish tinge as the sunlight is refracted while shining through Earth’s atmosphere.

The red moon is expected to be visible between 8:51 p.m. and 10:08 p.m., lasting about one hour and 17 minutes.

The moon will also appear bigger as its orbit is near its closest point to Earth.

The last time a complete lunar eclipse occurred was September 28, 2015. The next lunar eclipse will happen on July 28

The third largest fire in California history burned 269,000 acres and destroyed over 1,000 structures as it continued to expand across 10,000 acres late last week.
Cal Fire, the state’s fire emergency agency, estimated the Thomas Fire is only 40 percent contained after burning for nearly two weeks, and said it threatens an additional 18,000 structures.

Coastal communities in Santa Barbara county has been so far spared from the inferno, but the Thomas Fire has shown no sign of relenting as strong winds continue to propel the blaze. Sean Price, 39, a man from Queens, New York was convicted for enticing a 16-year-old girl from Australia to travel from abroad to engage in sexual activity. After meeting her online, he encouraged her to join him in New York, Price wired the girl over $900 to purchase a plane ticket to fly to Los Angeles in late March of this year. The superseding indictment charged him with interstate and foreign enticement to engage in sexual activity, interstate and foreign transportation of a minor to engage in sexual activity, a Mann Act violation, and attempted sexual exploitation of a child.

“Price lured a teenage girl across the globe to satisfy his own sordid desires, taking advantage of her youth and preying on her vulnerability,” stated HSI Special Agent-in-Charge Angel Melendez. “These cases are a harsh reminder of the importance of educating our young people on the dangers of sexual predators on the internet. HSI New York’s Trafficking in Persons Unit maintains an unwavering commitment to investigate these crimes around the world, targeting and arresting predators who transport minors for sex. And we continue to collaborate with our global partners, like the Australian Federal Police, while relying on local partnerships as with the NYPD.”

“The jury has held defendant Sean Price accountable for his predatory conduct, which included luring a teenage girl from her home in Australia across the world to the United States so that he could engage in an illicit sexual relationship with her,” stated Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Bridget M.
