As too numerous medical research centers across the world are conducting trials for their vaccines in order to stop the virus, led by the first Russian vaccine appropriately named Sputnik V, a brain child of the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology that it is entering the third stage of trials in Russia and other countries, the tired and horrified mankind is facing the COVID-19 pandemic head on, with over 23 million infected worldwide, while the global death toll from the disease has surpassed 800,000 according to official data.

The biggest daily increase in the number of cases has been registered in India, US, and Brazil, with other places in Latin America following somewhat behind them, as  the Islamic Merkeldom of Germany university putting on three large-scale concerts to see whether mass indoor events could continue amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Halle University’s project is called RESTART-19, which is short for “risk prediction of indoor sports and culture events for the transmission of COVID-19.”

“The research project RESTART-19 is conducting an evidence-based and scientifically designed study to investigate the risks of holding a major event at an indoor venue. The aim is to find a way to restart such events,” a press release read.

By flipping a new and fresh page in the COVID-19 war, President Trump called on Americans to donate blood plasma, following US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granting emergency authorization for the use of anti-body carrying blood samples from recovered patients to treat coronavirus patients, a proven procedure that has already been used on over 70,000 people in the US, and according to him the treatment could reduce deaths by 35%.
“This is what I’ve been looking forward to doing for a long time. I’m pleased to make a truly historic announcement in our battle against the China virus that will save countless lives,” he declared.

President Trump described the procedure as a powerful therapy, and he appealed for Americans to come forward to donate plasma if they’ve recovered from Covid-19, with the FDA saying early research suggests blood plasma can decrease mortality and improve patient health if it’s administered within the first three days of their hospitalization, after concluding it was safe after an extensive review of data collected during recent months, as the benefits of the treatment outweighing any risks.

More than 176,000 people have died from coronavirus since the start of the outbreak in the United States, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University. Nearly 5.7 million cases have also been confirmed nationwide.

Great state of Louisiana issued mandatory evacuation orders for four low-lying southeastern areas ahead of the arrival of twin storms this week, with parishes of the Orleans, Lafourche, Jefferson and Plaquemines being ordered to evacuate after the National Hurricane Center said it expected weather conditions to begin deteriorating along the Gulf of Mexico coast early Monday morning.

Tropical Storm Marco is forecast to make landfall on Monday, followed by Laura’s arrival in the middle of the week. The two storms are expected to bring hurricane-force winds and flash floods.

Public shelters will be open to residents starting Sunday. Evacuees have been advised to travel on their own due to coronavirus-related restrictions. People will have their temperature taken upon arrival and will be required to wear face masks.
