George Sorbane Quotes:

1. “Not crazy are those souls who marvel at God’s creation, but the ones who ridicule them.”

2………….> NRA vs Virginia’s Communist Government: The Beginning Of The Final Battle

Police and citizens came ready to face violence as pro-gun activists streamed in from across the US to join the demonstration, protesting a proposed set of reforms to limit firearm ownership in the state, as pro-gun men, clad in camouflage and waving flags with messages of support for President Trump, arrived several hours before the gathering’s official start. Large crowds of protesters chanted “We will not disarm,” in unison, while other attendees wore stickers saying “Guns save lives,” and displayed pistols and rifles in the streets.

The gathering which was organized on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a holiday marking the legacy of the African-American civil rights leader, also fell on Virginia’s “Lobby Day,” an annual event which allows citizens to meet with state legislators.

Activists gathered from across the United States to argue that their constitutional rights were being infringed upon by a proposed package of eight bills to change Virginia state firearms laws, including a bill to limit handgun purchases to one per month, a law to require background checks on all firearms purchases and transfers, bans on guns from certain events and public spaces, and a ban on assault rifles.

3……………> AG William P. Barr Statement on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” Dr. King wrote in his famous letter while confined to a narrow cell in the Birmingham city jail. In the face of grave intolerance, Dr. King exemplified great moral and physical courage, playing a seminal role in the fight for civil rights and leading our nation to a better destiny. As the Department of Justice celebrates its sesquicentennial year, let us be motivated by the example of Dr. King, always seeking and striving for the fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans.

4…………> Trump Or Not: Migrants Wave Splashes into Southern Mexico

A deluge of predominantly Honduran migrants crossed the Suchiate River into southern Mexico on Monday in a new test President Trump’s Central America strategy to keep migrants away from the US border, as riot police attempted to stop the the migrants who want free passage across Mexico to the US border, a part of a new policy not allowing migrants to cross its territory unimpeded after the US threatened sanctions.

The Central American migrants moved off the Guatemala-Mexico border bridge and toward the river after Mexican officials told them they would not be granted passage through the country.

On the Mexican side of the river, migrants ran from side to side, kicking up dust on the river bank and looking for an opening in the ranks of National Guard troops sent to meet them.

5………..> Get It Over With: Trump’s Lawyers

Demanding that President Trump’s is immediately acquitted by the Senate,  his legal team, representing him at his impeachment trial, filed a brief, alleging that the impeachment is “a dangerous perversion” of the constitution, a move countered by the House impeachment managers who submitted their own brief, saying Mr. Trump engaged in “corrupt conduct… to cheat in the next election”, basically using the infamous sociology rule of the “Hecklers veto” to shut down the “opposition.”

During the course of the trial, Senators will hear arguments for six hours a day, six days a week, presided over by the US chief justice, John Roberts, in the only third time in US history that a president is facing an impeachment trial.

The 171-page brief submitted by the legal team is the first comprehensive defense of the president, undercutting the charges against Mr. Trump, branding them “frivolous and dangerous” and arguing that they don’t constitute either a crime or an impeachable offense.

“House Democrats settled on two flimsy Articles of Impeachment that allege no crime or violation of law whatsoever – much less ‘high Crimes and Misdemeanours’ as required by the Constitution,” it said.

“They do not remotely approach the constitutional threshold for removing a President from office.”

1…………> “Sell Your Tesla Stock”: Elon Musk

“We have no interest in satisfying the desires of day traders. I couldn’t care less. Please sell our stock and don’t buy it,” those were the encouraging remarks by Tesla CEO Elon Musk in a conference call with investors,

that was followed by shares slump of 5.6% to $285.45, shaving almost $US3 billion off company’s market value.

It was also his refusal to answer “boring” Wall Street questions about Tesla’s first-quarter earnings which sent the electric vehicle maker’s shares down as much as 7 percent earlier in the day, and an opinion by Wall Street analysts that the company may run out of cash around Christmas.

Mr. Musk was also asked about Tesla’s capital requirements and its nagging problem of failing to meet car-production targets.

“Boring questions are not cool,” he answered.

2…………> Down The Aisle: Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle’s father will walk her down the aisle for her wedding to Prince Harry, and the Kensington palace also confirmed that Ms. Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, will stay with her daughter the night before the wedding and travel with her by car to St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

Following tradition, the bride and groom-to-be will not spend the night together before the wedding and the first time he sees her on the big day is when she is walking down the aisle.

“Both of the bride’s parents will have important roles in the wedding. Ms. Markle is delighted to have her parents by her side on this important and happy occasion,”

3…………> Anger From Below: Mt. Kilauea

Fresh eruptions sent fountains of lava 100ft out of the ground on Hawaii’s Big Island, destroying several homes amid fissures on three streets and deadly levels of dangerous sulfur dioxide gas in the air.

A number of increasingly strong earthquakes rocked the area after the eruption, with the US Geological Survey (USGS) reporting a 6.9 magnitude quake south-east of the volcano.

4…………> In Support Of NRA: Trump

“They don’t have guns. They have knives and instead, there is blood all over the floors of the hospital”, that is how President Trump described a hospital in London, where firearms are illegal but violence still erupts as criminals turn to knives.

“Your Second Amendment rights are under siege but they will never ever be under siege as long as I am your president. We cannot get complacent. We have to win the mid-terms,” Trump said at the National Rifles Association (NRA) annual meeting in the convention center in Dallas.

Gun control “diehards” accused Trump of bending backward to the NRA instead of working to curb gun violence.

“It’s the job of the president to ensure our public safety, but Trump takes his marching orders from the NRA,” Gabby Giffords, the former Arizona congresswoman who was badly wounded in a shooting, said in a statement. “Trump has ignored the pleas of young people demanding safer gun laws.”

5…………> “Argentina De Banana”: 40% Rates

Argentina’s central bank performed a series of money market operations that raised rates to 40% from 33.25%, all intended to help stabilize the national currency and prevent a repeat of its 2001-2 economic crisis that left its population in poverty.

The peso jumped more than 5 percent against the US dollar following Friday’s announcement, having sunk nearly 8 percent the previous day.

Inflation is currently running at 25.4 %, and most analysts expect the headline figure to remain close to 20 percent. Investors say with one of the world’s highest inflation rates, Argentina is particularly vulnerable to investment losses.
