After five days of countrywide protests over the death of African-American man George Floyd at the hands of a police officer, forcing some state governors to call in the National Guard to stop the looting, vandalism, and violence, President Donald Trump has complimented the actions of the National Guard deployed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in stopping the ongoing riots, and the violent rallies allegedly led by the Antifa movement, whom the president labelled “anarchists”, and suggested that other states should follow Minnesota’s suit and crack down on the group “before it is too late”.
Trump went as far as to announce that Antifa will be designated by the US government as a terrorist organization, thereby effectively making it illegal on American soil. The president also slammed the work of the “lamestream media”, accusing them of sowing “hatred and anarchy” by spreading “fake news”.

Following the mayhem across the country, President Trump made the following statement:
” These are not acts of peaceful protest, these are acts of domestic terror. We cannot allow the righteous cries and peaceful protesters to be drowned out by an angry mob. A number of state and local governments have failed to take necessary action to safeguard their residents … that is why I am taking immediate presidential action to stop the violence and restore security and safety in America. I am mobilizing all available federal resources – civilian and military – to stop the rioting and looting, end the destruction and arson and to protect the rights of law-abiding Americans, including your Second Amendment rights. Therefore, the following measures are going into effect immediately. First, we are ending the riots and lawlessness that has spread throughout our country. We will end it now,” Trump concluded.
“Today, I am strongly recommended to every governor to deploy the National Guard in sufficient numbers that we dominate the streets. Mayors and governors must establish an overwhelming law enforcement presence until the violence has been quelled. If a city or state refuses to take the actions that are necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the US military and quickly solve the problem for them,” Trump continued.
Immediately following his remarks, Trump was seen walking on foot across Lafayette Park, where protesters had just been violently dispersed with tear gas and flash-bang grenades. The president was soon thereafter seen standing in front of St. John’s Episcopal Church, which was damaged in a fire Sunday night. He was also pictured holding up a bible near the church.
“Our nation has been gripped by professional anarchists, violent mobs, arsonists, looters, criminals, rioters, Antifa, and others,” Trump said in the White House Rose garden as flash-bang grenades went off in Lafayette Park in the nation’s capital.
