WASHINGTON – A Missouri man, identified as  Jason William Siesser, 46, of Columbia, Mo., pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to acquire a chemical weapon, one count of aggravated identity theft on Aug. 4, 2020, and was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison without parole today for attempting to purchase a chemical weapon, capable of killing hundreds of people, on the dark web with Bitcoin.

According to court documents, Siesser admitted that he attempted to acquire a chemical weapon on two occasions between June 14 and Aug. 23, 2018. He provided a shipping address in the name of a juvenile, whose identity he used without authorization, to place the orders for a highly toxic chemical in amounts capable of killing many people. Siesser paid for the chemical weapon with the digital cryptocurrency known as Bitcoin.

A Washington state man, identified as  Cameron Shea, 25, a leader of the neo-Nazi group Atomwaffen Division, pled guilty to federal conspiracy and hate crime charges for threatening journalists and advocates who worked to expose anti-Semitism, after pleading guilty to federal hate crime and conspiracy charges in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to commit three offenses against the United States: interference with federally-protected activities because of religion; mailing threatening communications; and cyberstalking. He also pleaded guilty to one count of interfering with a federally protected activity because of religion.

In addition, Shea and three co-defendants were charged with conspiring via an encrypted online chat group to identify journalists and advocates they wanted to threaten in retaliation for the victims’ work exposing anti-Semitism.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents, working jointly with the Caribbean Corridor Strike Force (CCSF) seized Thursday 2,378 kilograms of cocaine in the municipality of Yabucoa in the eastern coast of Puerto Rico. The seized contraband has an estimated street value of $50 million.

On April 8, U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Air and Marine Operations and the Puerto Rico Police Department’s (PRPD) Joint Forces for Rapid Action interdicted a 32-feet, open hull vessel, navigating towards Puerto Rico. The vessel beached on a Yabucoa shore where the crew absconded into the adjoining woodlands.

Upon inspection of the vessel, officers found 67 bales of cocaine with an estimated weight of 2,378 kilograms, and the the investigation is continuing.

LAREDO, Texas – Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Laredo office conducted an investigation leading to the indictment of a Houston man, identified as  Brodrick Keith Rhodes, 32, subsequently charged with conspiracy to transport undocumented immigrants, following a traffic stop after he approached the Freer Border Patrol checkpoint driving a semi-truck and refrigerated trailer, claiming he was hauling lettuce and produced a bill of lading.  After a K-9 alerted to possible presence of contraband in the cargo area of the trailer and a subsequent inspection, authorities ultimately discovered 119 undocumented immigrants.

On Feb. 9, a Laredo grand jury returned an indictment against Brodrick Keith Rhodes, 32, from Houston, charging him with conspiracy to transport undocumented immigrants, and he is expected to appear before a U.S. magistrate judge in the near future, and if convicted, faces up to 10 years in prison and a maximum possible $250,000 fine.

Hines, 29, of Miami, pleaded guilty for fraudulently obtaining approximately $3.9 million in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans and using those funds, in part, to purchase a $318,000 Lamborghini sports car for himself, after authorities seized the vehicle, and $3.4 million from his bank accounts at the time of his arrest, following a guilty plea to one count of wire fraud and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 14.

Hines admitted that he fraudulently sought millions of dollars in PPP loans through applications to an insured financial institution on behalf of different companies, by  submitting fraudulent loan applications that made numerous false and misleading statements about the companies’ respective payroll expenses, leading to the approval and funding of approximately $3.9 million in PPP loans.
