Declaring that ‘America is back’, US new President “Uncle” Joe, “Sleeping in a wrong century” Biden told State Department officials that the White House it will push for a peaceful end to the six-year conflict, which has left more than 100,000 people dead and sparked a humanitarian crisis, emphasizing strongly that the United States was ending its support for offensive operations in the Saudi-led war in Yemen, saying the six-year conflict “has to end,” but stressed Washington would continue to back its long-standing ally Saudi Arabia:

“We’re stepping up our diplomacy to end the war in Yemen, a war which has created humanitarian and strategic catastrophe,” Biden said.

“This war has to end, and to underscore our commitment, we are ending all America support for offensive operations in the war in Yemen, including relevant arms sales.”.

Biden made his remarks in a speech to State Department diplomats, as the new policy marks a departure from the position of his two predecessors.

Oncology researchers are now using “drug repositioning” as they search for cures for cancer, an advantageous approach avoiding the lengthy research and approval processes have been completed, and the active ingredients have been found to be safe for medical use, as further development or repositioning is faster, easier and cheaper than with going through the approval process for a newly developed drug, since pharmaceuticals are often developed over a long period of time, and can sometimes deliver unexpected effects — as with aspirin and Viagra. Researchers have now used a drug database to discover new anti-cancer substances.

Case in point, researchers at UT Southwestern Simmons Cancer Center discovered a drug combination in 2020 that is designed to stop the growth of cancer cells, a drug already on the market is expected to counteract resistance to a promising new cancer drug that is currently in clinical trials.

Cancer researchers at the University of Bergen in Norway tested hundreds of different drugs over several years to see how they affect cancer cells, and found that a drug used to fight parasites, like tapeworms and giardia, contains the substance NTZ (nitazoxanide), which acts like a tailor-made medicine against prostate and colon cancer.

“We discovered that this specific substance blocks the signaling pathway in cancer cells and causes them to stop growing,” said Karl-Henning Kalland from the Department of Clinical Sciences at UiB.

Hence when Chaplin was scripting and shooting the film – his first proper talkie – colleagues at the studio he co-owned were afraid that no government would let it be seen.
