LOS ANGELES – A Sunland resident has been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for fraudulently obtaining a $650,600 Paycheck Protection Program loan under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
The case is the result of a probe by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Los Angeles’ El Camino Real Financial Crimes Task Force &mndash;a multi-agency task force comprised of federal and state investigators focused on financial crimes in the Southern California area&mndash;and the Small Business Administration Office of Inspector General.
Andranik Amiryan, 42, was sentenced late Thursday afternoon by U.S. District Judge Dolly M. Gee, who also ordered him to pay $650,600 in restitution. Amiryan pleaded guilty on April 28 to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

Authorities placed several decoy advertisements on websites known to be linked to prostitution and commercial sex cases.

One person has died and five were injured after they stirred up a large beehive in Marana, Arizona, the Northwest Fire District in Tucson announced on Friday.
According to local fire officials, a sizable swarm of bees came from a “large open hive, estimated [at] around 100 pounds” located in a nearby tree. The bees were said to have stung three people “hundreds of times” along with three firefighters, who were dispatched to the scene.

A tweeted video shows a young man in a pink t-shirt running between rows of metallic barriers. He successfully avoided two two agents and jumped over the barrier, continuing the race inside the park.

The White House, the New York Times, tech giant Amazon, three of numerous institutions whose websites went black early in the morning, visitors started seeing error messages when they tried to access the websites of the British government, the social media platform Reddit, or media outlets like the BBC, CNN and the Financial Times.

An hour later, the pages came back online. But the damage was already done.

The outage could have cost companies hundreds of millions in lost revenue, after consumers were unable to access websites and online shops, according to analysts estimates.
