Following a high-level US delegation met with President Recep Tayyip, “Sultan” Erdogan in Ankara, Turkey agreed to a five-day ceasefire in Syria to let Kurdish-led forces withdraw, giving it relief from sanctions imposed by the US since the operation began, after which the foreign minister said his country Armed Forces will control the zone under the new agreement.

Vice-President Mike Pence said there will be “a pause in military operations for 120 hours”, and the US will help facilitate an “orderly withdrawal” of Kurdish-led troops, with the agreement giving the Turks what they had sought to achieve with their military operation in the first place — the removal of the Kurdish forces from the so-called safe zone.

The deal gives Turkey relief from sanctions the administration had imposed and threatened to impose since the invasion began, meaning there will be no penalty for the operation, as Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said the US accepted “the importance and functionality” of a “safe zone” and says Turkish Armed Forces will control the zone under the new agreement.

ICE deportation officers arrested Grachowe Harrichand, 43, a Guyanese national previously ordered removed from the US, was twice released from local law enforcement custody with an active detainer due to New York City’s sanctuary policies.

On March 6, 2019, Harrichand was arrested by the New York Police Department (NYPD) for the charges of sexual abuse, 1st contact with victim less than 13, sexual abuse 2nd sexual contact with person less than 14 years-old, sexual abuse 3rd subject another person to sex contact without consent, forcible touching: touch sexual/intimate parts of another person, act in manner injure child less than 17 years-old, and aggravated harassment.

On July 5, Harrichand was again arrested by the NYPD for the charges of sexual abuse 3rd: subject another person to sex contact without consent, forcible touching, act in manner injure child less than 17 years-old, and harassment.

  The detainer was not honored and Harrichand was released from the custody of the New York City Department of Correction (NYCDOC)

“Turkey’s military offensive is endangering civilians and threatening peace, security and stability in the region,” the statement said, adding that Turkey’s actions were “setting conditions for possible war crimes.”

The rapidly changing situation was set in motion last week, when Mr. Trump ordered American troops in northern Syria to step aside, clearing the way for an attack by Turkey.
