NATO’s “Trident Juncture” exercises are to include 8,000 German troops, with action “in the air, at sea, and on land” to continue for over two weeks starting October 25, NATO headquarters in Brussels confirmed to DW on Friday.

NATO spokesperson Irina Novakova told DW Friday that the purpose of deploying “120 aircraft, 70 ships and up to 10,000 vehicles” in October’s Trident exercises, the “bulk” in Norway, was to practice the alliance’s ability to “operate together and to defend our populations and territories.”
