When someone had posted a meme — illegal under German law for its Nazi content— along with some other racist remarks, on a school’s digital bulletin board, it brought vivid memories of another well known racist, aka Adolf Hitler whose influence on teens has been disturbing on many citizens, as memes are just one social media tool in the toolbox media-savvy extremist groups use, extending their digital reach from the dark corners of the web to popular channels like YouTube, Instagram and gaming platforms.
It doesn’t necessarily spell radicalization, but point to a disturbing trend among the underage population: They’re now more likely to share extremist content, in many cases unknowingly.

The new ruling military junta in Myanmar responded to ongoing protests against the recent coup by imposing a nationwide internet blackout, but despite the blackout, demonstrations in the Southeast Asian country continued to grow with Saturday seeing the largest anti-coup protests yet as around 3,000 protesters marched near Yangon University, and the UN called for internet services to be restored and for the military regime to hand power back to the civilian government, as in Yangon, members of the crowd shouted “Military dictatorship should fall” and “Down with dictatorship”:
“They don’t respect our people’s votes and I think they are betraying the country,” one protester told AFP.
“Our revolution starts today.”
