“Like water and electricity, AI will enter almost every aspect of life in the next five to 10 years,” said Liu Qingfeng, a deputy to the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) and board chairman of iFlytek, a leading Chinese AI firm.

A revolution in warship design was ushered with the debut of angular stealthy designs intended to minimize warships’ radar cross-sections, as the Navy’s USS Zumwalt stealth destroyer having survived a major test in rough seas, dispelling fears the uniquely designed ship isn’t seaworthy, being the largest ship ever designed with a “tumblehome” hull, meaning it narrows above the waterline instead of widening. Experience had shown that in smaller boats, the wider lower hull facilitates greater stability, but pre-World War I battleships that employed the design suffered greater problems, leaving critics wondering if it was wise to buck a century’s worth of shipbuilding wisdom with the warship.

In order to test the Zumwalt’s abilities in heavy seas, a team of US Navy engineers accompanied the ship and its crew on a trip into waters off the southern coast of Alaska in the fall of 2020 where a major storm produced “Sea State Six” conditions, according to a Navy release, which describes waves between 13 and 20 feet high.

“There were no exceedances of critical motion criteria limits,” the release said. The next step is for the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Carderock, Maryland, to replicate the conditions in its own “indoor ocean” test pool.

HOUSTON – Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with assistance from local law enforcement, arrested a pharmacist and his accountant, identified as Mohamed Mokbel, 56, and Fathy Elsafty, 62, both of Houston, for allegedly conspiring to commit $134 million in health care fraud, and are expected to make their initial appearances before U.S. Magistrate Judge Andrew Edison at 2 p.m., with the eight-count indictment alleges Mokbel is the owner of several Houston-area pharmacies, while Elsafty is his accountant.

According to the charges, 4M Pharmaceuticals Inc. was the parent company for several retail pharmacies that operated in Houston, Fort Worth, South Florida and elsewhere, Mokbel being 4M’s CEO and allegedly had ownership interests in subsidiary pharmacies, with the charges alleging Elsafty served as 4M’s accountant and tax preparer as well as nominee owner of multiple pharmacies.

The scheme also allegedly targeted doctors, with the charges allege 4M Pharmaceuticals sent fax requests for prescriptions that patients often did not authorize, and in several cases, the company billed patients for prescription drugs without a valid prescription. 4M pharmacies also allegedly sent prescription requests to doctors for dead patients.
