Sinaloa Cartel cell leader Damaso Lopez-Serrano, 29, of Culiacan, Mexico aka “Mini Lic,” pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine following his self-surrender to U.S. law enforcement authorities at the Calexico West, Mexico Port of Entry on July 27, 2017. 

Lopez-Serrano accepted responsibility for his role as a leader within the Sinaloa Cartel for the transportation and distribution of thousands of kilograms of controlled substances for importation from Mexico into the United States, and admitted to possessing firearms for the purpose of promoting the Sinaloa Cartel’s narcotics trafficking activities. 

“Damaso Lopez-Serrano’s conviction strikes a serious blow to the leadership of the Sinaloa Cartel and its violent drug trafficking activities,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Cronan. “The Administration, the Department and our law enforcement partners are steadfast in our commitment to pursuing and dismantling the international drug rings that poison our communities.”

Hundreds of U.S. immigration agents flooded out to nearly 100 7-Eleven convenience stores nationwide, arresting 21 people suspected of being in the country illegally and giving owners a tight deadline to prove other employees are authorized to work.

Air Force of the People’s Liberation Army of China has carried out real combat training, with the involvement of the J-20 stealth fighter and the Y-20 military transport aircraft, according to a military statement.

The J-20, China’s fourth-generation medium and long-range fighter jet, made its maiden flight in 2011 and was officially commissioned into military service in September 2017.

Several new fighter jets including the J-16, J-10C and H-6K bombers were also included in the training, the statement said.

The training is aimed at improving the air force’s capability to win battles, it said.

Federal officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested 22 criminal aliens and immigration violators in Illinois’ Cook and Lake counties in the following cities and towns: Chicago (9), Cicero (4), Hoffman Estates (1), Palatine (4), Park City (1), Rolling Meadows (2) and Round Lake Beach (1). All those arrested were men between the ages of 20 and 53.

Aliens arrested during this operation are from the following five countries: Ecuador (1), Honduras (2), Mexico (17), Serbia (1) and Ukraine (1).

Six of the 22 arrested during this operation were criminal aliens who were released back into their communities after local law enforcement failed to honor an immigration detainer placed on the individuals by ICE. Immigration detainers request that ICE be notified before the individual is released from local custody for any reason.
