Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the situation in Syria on Monday, warning that his country will retaliate following reports that two Turkish police officers were killed in a shootout with Kurdish fighters.
“We have run out of patience”, he said, as cited by Daily Sabah. “Turkey is determined to eliminate threats arising from northern Syria, either together with forces active there, or with our own means”.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded one half of the 2021 prize in economic sciences to David Card and the other half jointly to Joshua D. Angrist and Guido W. Imbens.

 The organization that handles claims on behalf of Jews who suffered under the Nazis said last week that Germany has agreed to extend compensation to Jewish survivors who endured the World War II siege of Leningrad and two other groups who had not received any monthly pensions from Germany. The payments will be going to approximately 6,500 survivors around the world, primarily in Israel, North America, the former Soviet Union and Western Europe, according to the New York-based Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, also referred to as the Claims Conference.
