2…………> Trump Says Bolton Would Be Breaking Law by Publishing Book Detailing POTUS ‘Misconduct’

.

President Trump alleged that former White House National Security Advisor John Bolton would be breaking the law if he publishes his upcoming book ‘The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir”, in which the former Trump appointee and senior national security advisor details the president’s dealing with Ukraine.

“That’s criminal liability, by the way, you are talking about. You are not talking like he has to return three dollars that he made off the book. It’s called criminal liability. It’s a big thing,” Trump told reporters at the White House when asked about the upcoming publication.

“Maybe he’s not telling the truth, he’s been known not to tell the truth, a lot,” Trump suggested, referring to his former top security advisor, before asking US Attorney General William Barr to comment:

“People who come to work in the government and have access to sensitive information generally sign an agreement that says that when they leave government if they write something that […] might reflect some of the information they have had access to, they have to go to a clearance process before they can publish a book,” AG Barr said.

“We don’t believe that Bolton went through that process. [He] hasn’t completed the process and therefore is in violation of that agreement”.
Bolton’s book is set to expose Trump’s dealings with Ukraine to dig up dirt on his political rival Joe Biden, which led the president’s impeachment, and going beyond to detail “Trump misconduct with other countries”.

The Trump administration is expected to file a lawsuit in a federal court seeking a court order to prevent publishing the book in its current form.

3…………> Auschwitz 101: Atrocities & War Crimes Before the Holocaust

.

Eighty years ago, on June 14, 1940, the first batch of prisoners arrived at Auschwitz, initially intended for Polish resistance fighters, and most of the 728 Poles who were moved into the death camp from the prison in the southern Polish city of Tarnow were men aged below 30, mostly intellectuals and students. The camp staff and guards were 30 German criminals whom the SS had brought to Auschwitz from the Sachsenhausen concentration camp a short time previously.

“My dear Halusia, Since June 14, I have been in the Auschwitz concentration camp. I am healthy and feel well,” wrote Tadeusz Korczowski, Prisoner No. 373, to his fiancée. All correspondence was strictly controlled by the camp administration, so the 26-year-old could write little more in his letter besides praising the “pleasant weather in Auschwitz.” But between the lines, he tries to indicate that he will probably be staying there “for some time.”

The Polish prisoners were victims of a German occupation policy that aimed to wipe out the Polish elites. After German troops invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, the Nazi regime incorporated the western regions of Poland into the Third Reich. By July 1940, the occupiers had murdered 50,000 Poles and deported the same number to concentration camps as part of the “Intelligenzaktion,” a genocidal operation mostly targeting intellectuals.

4……………> Trump Not A Warmonger: Like His ‘Three Predecessors

.

The Former US Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who served in the position from 2006 to 2011 under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, was clearly not an admirer of Donald Trump in the past, but now said something that might have surprised the news media:

“I would say this, Chuck. First of all, unlike his three predecessors, and I write about this in the book [“Exercise of Power: American Failures, Successes, and a New Path Forward in the Post-Cold War World”], at least he hasn’t started any new wars and he has robustly funded the military”, the former defense secretary replied.

While Gates acknowledged that he still did not agree with Trump’s “treatment and words about military people and military heroes like John McCain”, but praised the president’s “outreach” to North Korea.

“It hasn’t come to anything, but I thought that was a bold move, and everything else had failed in the previous 25 years”, the official said during the interview.
Mr. Trump became the first sitting president of the United States to visit North Korea in June 2019 to hold talks on denuclearization.

1…………> “Love Is In The Air”: Trump, Un Lunch

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who rarely observed outside his isolated country, visited tourist sites on Singapore’s waterfront, enjoying the “Gardens by the Bay”, Singapore’s famous waterfront park with futuristic installations, which boasts the largest glass greenhouse and tallest indoor, man-made waterfall in the world as onlookers had gathered outside the Marina Bay Sands hotel, which resembles a ship perched on three columns at the mouth of the Singapore River.

Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, who accompanied Mr. Kim on his tour of the sites, posted a selfie to Facebook with the North Korean leader and Singapore Education Minister Ong Ye Kung.

The Swiss-educated leader, who is believed to be 34, has not left his country since taking office in 2011 other than to visit China and the South Korean side of the border Demilitarized Zone, which separates the two Koreas.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump forecast a “nice” outcome for his meeting with Mr. Kim, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the preparatory talks between the two nations had moved quite rapidly.

“We anticipate that they will come to their logical conclusion even more quickly than we anticipated,” Mr. Pompeo said.

2…………> We ‘been Cheated & Mistreated: Mr. Trump

The president tweeted that America was paying disproportionately more towards the costs of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato) than fellow members.

“They pay only a fraction of the cost – and laugh,” he wrote, adding that the EU needed to pay “much more” to help fund the international military alliance, which comprises 28 members including the UK, US, Germany, Canada, and Turkey. Not all EU members are Nato members.

Mr. Trump went on to say that the US gets “unfairly clobbered” on trade despite “protecting Europe at a great financial loss”.

“Change is coming!” he warned.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

Sorry, we cannot let our friends, or enemies, take advantage of us on Trade anymore. We must put the American worker first!

Mr. Trump has consistently said that countries that have a trade surplus with the US – meaning they export more to the US than they import – are “taking advantage” of the US.

While only part of the greater US spending is directed to the collective defense of its Nato allies, President Trump has argued since before his election that the allies are freeloading on the backs of US taxpayers and are failing to spend enough of their own resources on their defense.

Mr. Trump said his decision to reject the joint G7 communique was based on Mr. Trudeau’s “false statements… and the fact that Canada is charging massive tariffs to our US farmers, workers and companies”.

4…………> The Un Dynasty: Long-Term Threat

Both Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump have a history of making provocative threats against each other. Will the dispute over nuclear weapons escalate and will the meeting between the North Korean leader and the U.S. president take place?

Some attribute the recent chain of events to the long-term stability of North Korea’s ruling dynasty. North Korea has consistently refused to give up the nuclear program that it has been pursuing since 1962. Washington has been equally consistent in changing its policies toward Pyongyang. And what will become of the US commitment to protect South Korea and Japan? Our report outlines the history of North Korea’s nuclear program — and also explains how the US has helped to enhance Pyongyang’s strategic position. Every recent U-S administration — from Bill Clinton to Donald Trump — has changed the country’s policy toward North Korea. American presidents come and go, but the Kim dynasty remains in place.

5…………> The “Mosul Eye”: Islamic State Atrocities

Omar Mohammed, a young historian with a Ph.D. in history from the Iraqi city of Mosul, founded a platform to document the crimes committed by “Islamic State.” Has Mosul Eye made a difference?

“Mosul Eye was for Mosul, but it was also addressed to the rest of the world,” Mohammed recently told DW, discussing the more than 300,000 online followers his platform has amassed. “‘Islamic State’ wanted to isolate the city so that there were no witnesses, so globalizing Mosul became an act of protection,” he added.

And as a witness, he took it upon himself to relate the horrors committed by IS in Mosul that countered the group’s narrative in real time. “It was a way to protect the future of my city so that coming generations would know what happened here,” the 32-year-old scholar said. Mohammed began writing under the pseudonym Mosul Eye, along with other names that disguised his identity, shortly after IS issued its so-called Constitution of the City in June 2014 — 16 articles by which it ruled Mosul in accordance with a strict form of Sharia law, described by Mohammed as “the rules of death.”

The list of atrocities he witnessed and documented included the mass displacement of Christians and the enslavement of Yazidis, execution by stoning of accused adulterers and throwing people believed to be homosexuals from high buildings.
